I don't think any ILB from this draft could cover Gronk. Our biggest weakness last season was run defense and we were at our best when we had a big hitter like Desmond Bishop in the middle. I see a little of Bishop in Perryman's game and I believe he would become a instant starter for us. From what I read hes projected to go in the 2nd to 3rd round so we would most likely have to take him with our 2nd round pick if we were interested.

I could live with Perryman, especially if we drafted a fast LB that could cover RB's and TE's and drop back into zones quickly. We also need a quality CB. As for a thumper, there are other options down the board, i.e., Taiwan Jones. Jake Ryan from Michigan (I think) is even compared to Desmond Bishop by the NFL Draft Tracker analysis. Then there is Ben Heeney.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

If you want to cover TEs with a LB, then draft Shazier-like LBs. But you give up size. Packers can cover TEs with DBs.

Nice draft Brandon. Either Anthony or Perryman (along with Kendricks, Heeney, and a number of others) would be nice fits at a spot of need. Perryman would necessitate more time at ILB for Matthews. Perryman's a guy who plays a lot faster in short areas and pads than he runs in UnderArmor. Would love to see Kendricks fall but that'd be a surprise.

Anthony has the range and blitzing ability but maybe not the hole-plugging. It won't be hard to upgrade the ILB position... just about anyone in the first 3 or maybe even 4 rounds will probably do.

I like the CB Williams too. Good size and athleticism. A lot of draftniks have his running mate at Florida State rated higher than him. He's a smurf though. A lot of the corners in this draft seem diminutive and those guys scare me in the NFL.

Collins from LSU is intriguing also. If Byron Jones' shoulder checks out I think he has a very high ceiling. Jones has the kind of character and personality - not to mention incredible leaping ability - that I think shows he'll get a lot better yet. His shoulder could be a concern though.

Ya, but he's like a SS. The idea is that there's gonna be a tradeoff if you want a LB out there who can cover some of these elite TEs.

Byron Jones reminds me a lot of Micah Hyde but better athlete, wouldn't mind taking him in round 4th round.

I think his draft position will hinge on his pro day and his 40 time.
