  • Jermichael Finley Officially Retires

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13...ly-retires-nfl

Former Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley has officially retired, agent Blake Baratz told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Finley, 28, has not played since he suffered a bruised spinal cord on Oct. 20, 2013, against the Cleveland Browns. That injury left him momentarily without movement or feeling in his extremities.

Finley underwent surgery in November 2013 to fuse together the C-3 and C-4 vertebrae in his neck. Reportedly, he was cleared in 2014 to resume football activities, but he has remained unsigned as a free agent.

Finley addressed his decision in a series of tweets Monday night.

Forever grateful to have had the opportunity to play for the best organization, w/ the best coaching staff in the National Football League..
Never quite realized his potential, but what an exciting player for a few years. Glad he made it out healthy.

Is this the Official Thread of Jermichael Finley's Official Retirement or is Sharpe going to steal that one too?

Did Shark Fin collect on the insurance policy? There was a recent article about how a lot of players (many in college) have taken out the policies but virtually no one has cashed one in.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Agree. Had some bad games and some great ones. Glad he made a smart choice and can enjoy his kids while he remembers their names.

No longer the member of any fan clubs. I'm tired of jinxing players out of the league and into obscurity.

Homer interviewed Finley this week on his radio show, couldn't get even a hint out of him about whether he has been paid. Finley is looking to start a career in Packer media. I doubt anybody knows if he has been paid

yeah, and somehow the Neck Collins picture got deleted (or doesn't show due to server restrictions)...

Robert Brooks was the one that got me. Man, he was really good. I still think he's a bit underrated in Packers' history.

And don't forget this guy. If he hadn't wrecked his knee - twice - or if he'd been playing thirty years later - he would've gone down as one of the Packer all-time greats:
