Just checked some scores and Oakland is pounding San Diego. The Pack Squeaks by San Diego last week. SMH.

Any given Sunday, I guess.

I have a feeling that team is reeling after losing some of their games the way they have this season. Last Sunday's game could have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

Carolina doesn't have a dynamic offense, but they can run the ball versus almost any front. You can pass rush them though.

Kuechly is hurt. Not sure it matters.

They are getting by with their defense. Just like Denver. These next 2 games are going to be huge for us.

One positive feature of the broadcast is that there will be 7 to 8 fewer minutes of advertising than a traditional game.



Yahoo! paid a reported $20 million for the rights to live stream the game (on both Yahoo.com and Tumblr) across the world in an event the NFL and the advertising world will be monitoring closely. If Yahoo! gets the kind of viewership it hopes, live streaming could become a fixture in NFL broadcasting. Next year, the Thursday night slate of games CBS is currently broadcasting is up for grabs and Yahoo! or someone else could purchase the rights if the payoff is good enough. According to Adweek, Yahoo! sold out all of its advertising, but one report said it had to lower its ad rates drastically to do so. Still, the broadcast will be available to more than 1 billion monthly users.

Not the greatest viewing experience with Yahoo. I hope they don't do it again. The only thing I could see as an advantage for streaming this game on Yahoo is that because it was so early people stuck at church being bored out of their skulls could sit back and enjoy something.

I think that trade is a great example of the difference that staff continuity makes for a pro football team. They got rid of Olsen when Martz was the OC because Martz's offense doesn't utilize the TE in its passing scheme. As a receiving threat but not a blocker, Olsen's skills were going to be wasted in the Martz offense. But then two years later Martz is a flop and he's gone, and you wish you had Olsen back. To be fair, the Bears turned the pick they got for Olsen into a great receiver (traded for Brandon Marshall) and they found another TE who has turned out to be just as good or better than Olsen. But to me the moral of the story is that when you switch head coaches and coordinators every few years you're going to find yourself with a lot of extraneous pieces and parts in the personnel department, and that's not an efficient way to build a team.

That sounds about right. With respect to "they got another TE who could be better" comment though, I don't know if I count that as a win. There are enough holes to fill, and not enough draft choices to fill them. You can't go giving away young starters for 3rd round picks!

It completely changed the end of the game. A lot of FF fans who had Baltimore's kicker suddenly were out of luck.

The blocked punt then altered the betting situation a good deal.
