  • joe thomas might be available?

looks like the browns are about to give up on the season and try and get some draft picks for next year

browns are having talks about trading joe thomas and alex max in the next 2 days (trade deadline is in 2 days)

i would give up a 1st round pick in a second for the guy who might be the best LT in the league, and a guy who would be a massive upgrade over the persian

not that TT would ever give up a first, even though he kind of sucks using them

Finally the trade that could have landed Joe Thomas comes back around the bend to the Packers.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

      Cheaper than Bulaga?

Joe Thomas has no guaranteed money for 2016, but a salary of $9M. Alex Mack could opt-out of his deal. Would want value if he’s gonna bolt

Don't think the Packers would be looking to bring in someone making that kind of money even though he's an upgrade. And I'm not sure the Browns want to trade with a team that will be drafting as late as the Packers probably would.

I like the trade proposed by ESPN even better. J.J. Watt to the Packers:

the big problem, other then the 2 or 3 first round picks, and the idea that he might not be a great fit for our system, is that by my math, the texans would take a 14 million dollar cap hit next year if they traded him

Unfortunately, Thomas has played like crap quite a bit this year. He would be an upgrade over Bacteria, but nowhere near as much as people assume.

I don't think the the cap hit is a problem. I think Watt will cost 14.5 million against the cap if they keep him. The trade would actually increase their cap space by $0.5M next year, and free up a lot starting in 2017. I would be shocked if TT gave up even two 1st round picks.

Happens to the best of them at that stage of their careers.
