  • Official Packers Cardinals Game Day Thread

Another week, another Sunday family event. We are heading up to Eau Claire to celebrate Christmas with my brother's family. Unfortunately we are meeting in the middle and not at anyone's house so we won't be watching the game.

That being said, the Packers are travelling to the Southwest to play. That is the 2nd long trip in a row and has to be tolling on the Packers. What should have been an easy victory is going to be battle in Phoenix.

Packers win a squeaker 27-25 on the road.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

I don't see us winning today. I'm hoping it doesn't get ugly...

Wish Janis would catch a 70 yarder early to keep that defense stretched all game. He's not reliable, but they still have to account for the top being blown off!

I never make predictions, but...I don't know why I should expect anything but more of the same from the Packers O. Low low scoring game. I'm afraid Tom Moore gets his revenge today. Another away game fail? ...I hate the damn Cardinals!!!
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

Missing some key components, Packers will be behind at half as the Cardinals will have success early.

But the second half trend holds and the adjustments out of halftime work. D gets some 3 and outs, Offense manages a couple of good scoring drives. It will be close late.

After the Cardinals retake the lead late, Packers get the ball back after one botched drive (D finishes the game with a 5 and out). They go down the field in decent increments. Its up to Crosby to win by a point and earn his $4 million per year next contract.

                Packers win 35-34.

Anyone want to predict whether Dom goes with the slow bleed, or stacks up against the run and gives up the bombs? I predict with Shields out, it will be the 8-15 play drives and Dom will hope they can hold to FGs. Cardinal pass rush is weak, but d-backs are strong. Packers go after RC replacement and work the middle, but can't run. Red zone fail on both ends dooms Packers. 42-24 AZ.

Doesn't AZ usually turn into Lambeau West? I say the nicer weather gets the O on track for the playoffs and freezing honkies in WI celebrate and think about moving to a warmer place.

With the realization that he might have to retire after this year, Peppers goes on a tear down the stretch starting today. The loss of Shields is minimized by the pass rush gives Palmer little time. The Cardinals run and get a few long gains, but the damage stays to a minimum. The Cardinals score 15 and thus begins the discussion on whether the Packers defense is manned by cheaters.

On the other side, the offense continues to struggle, only putting up 20 in this one. They're aided by 2 short fields that give them half of their points.

                        20-15 Packers.

Rodgers must have gotten fed up with all of the stories of him being a frontrunner.

I think he tries to bleed slowly and plays back. If the DBs can keep big plays from happening and seven guys back can make a tackle on a crossing route, then he has a chance.

But they are going to need pressure at some point and that is when it gets interesting. I would love to see them alter blitzes right before the snap, but they don't do that often.
