Joe Thomas says there was nothing different or new in what owner Jimmy Haslam said to team today re coaching search. "Boilerplate" his word.

Waiting for a report where someone on the #Browns just says, "Um, yeah, I was secretly working for the #Steelers the whole time."

WASNT HASLAM A FRIEND OF THE ROONEYS?
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Titans announce G.M. Ruston Webster is out, and that Steve Underwood will be the permanent president/CEO.

#Titans will have a GM search. If they decide to follow in #Dolphins footsteps, they could promote college scouting dir Blake Beddingfield.

Owners must hate handing all football authority over to a GM. The new trend is to have someone above the GM, reporting back to the owner. and its not just the business side, this person often helps select the GM. Dolphins just did it, Titans doing it, Browns doing it.

            Coughlin OUT!

Sounds like former #Giants coach Tom Coughlin is informing his staff now of the collective decision for him to no longer be coach.

I think Coughlin and the Giants need a fresh start. I thought that maybe Coughlin could go be an OC somewhere, but he's 69 and I wonder how much he has left in the tank. May just call it a career.

To me, this is a recipe for disaster.

Now everybody will be doing it, because why wouldn't you want to emulate Dolphins, Titans and Browns?

In Detroit, word is that the new yet-unhired GM will decide Caldwell's future, but that, uh, Martha Ford really likes Caldwell. That would seem to me to possibly scare off son potential candidates.

The #49ers hiring Mike Shanahan as their next coach would be like the #RedSox sending up Ted Williams' head as a pinch hitter. #NFL

I think he is saying Shanahan is essentially headless.

^^^ I think he is referring to the very carefully treated and chemically preserved corpus of Mike Shannahan.

Both work so well I now doubt he meant either. And its probably not a Futurama reference either.
