It might be that simple. But the shooter is saying he felt threatened by Smith, and Smith did have a loaded gun in his car. No one is disputing there was a homicide. The dispute between the 2 parties is whether it was justifiable.

          • Franchise changing opportunity for the Titans. That was a great move by them, assuming they can hit on their draft picks. Could be a Herschel Walker to MN type deal for them.

And maybe an RGIII type deal for the Rams.

I know. I'm guessing he's going to say he believed Smith was going back to his car to grab his gun, so he shot him to prevent it. I wonder if anyone else heard what was said between the two.

If the Rams take Wentz then the Browns could take Goff (or vice versa).

                    Two 1sts, two 2nds and two 3rds for the first overall pick a 4th and a 6th?
To express this in terms of actual draft slots:

                    Rams get #1, #113 and #177 in 2016.
                    Titans get #15, #43, #45 and #76 in 2016; and a first (est #16) and a third (est. #80) in 2017.

Sounds like it is a good deal for the Titans who think they have their QB. They could package a couple of those picks to move back into the top 10 if there is someone they covet at another position.

Rams paid less than they got for the #2 pick in the RGIII trade.

                      That trade:

                      In 2012, #Rams traded No. 2 for No. 6, a 2nd and 2 firsts. In 2016, the #Rams traded for No. 1 & change for No. 15, a 1st, 2 2nds, 2 thirds.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

If Smith does intimidate the shooter is irrelevant here.

Smith was murdered with a gun.

OK. I could be wrong, but it looked like they were set on Wentz. Local radio is talking like it's over and they should trade down. But that's local radio....

A draft trade that obviously suits the needs to support both teams needs. The RAMS get the QB they need. The Titans secure a need for value picks and roster depth. The Titans also secure other trade options in the NFL Draft.

Evidently the Titans are going with their current LT. They make a solid move here with value picks in the early rounds for Roster depth. They enhance their future getting the RAMS first round pick in 2017.

The RAMS go on the aggressive and steal possibly the best prospect at QB from the BROWNS.

I like the Titans GM's move here.

Yes a solid deal for Tennessee. Good options are now available to that franchise.

Wentz seems to be grading out with higher upside. But he was in a run heavy offense and a good defense in college and has never carried a team with his passing. Not dispositive, but there is a good sized projection going on with him.

Goff has carried a team with his passing but might have a more limited upside physically. Goff might start out in better shape before being overtaken by Wentz.

Problem is that the Rams might need Wentz to start immediately. And be coached by Jeff Fisher.

This is all if, and only Sam Farmer has this so far, that the Rams are really leaning to Wentz.
