  • ACQUISITION TIME!

As of 11 am today players can be added to the practice squad and cuts from other teams can be brought in and signed without having to pick up their old contracts.

should make for an interesting day.....

waiver deadline was 11 am today. supposedly the pack put in a claim for at least two players and are 5th from the top of the waiver list....

"According to Thompson, the Packers have until 11 a.m. today to submit a claim. Priority when two or more claims are made goes to the team with the worse record in 2005. "

that's from an article called "pick and choose time" on jsonline.com.....

the article wouldn't say, but the pack will be notified sometime this afternoon if the are awarded the players they want. all bets are on the wr and ol positions to add depth....

patty over at packerchatters (who i thik is pretty damn credible)

is saying that she's heard through league people that the packers have talked with liwienski

that we put in a claim for a cb/s

that we had chances to trade for vet players, but TT did not want to give up draft picks

that we are interested in ron dayne

and we might be bringing in a couple of qb's for looks

                heres the link

Hell no to Ron Dayne! He's a complete stiff. I'm glad he had a good year last year--mostly his yards/carry was helped by one long run that I could have ran through for 50 yards.

                    Why is he a stiff?

I think its worth a shot to bring in someone who is fresh in the Zone Blocking system we are running.

But now you guys got me all high on Ponder and I'm gonna be annoyed if we don't get him.

i really like the idea of ponder too. right now i think jennings is the best return man on the roster but bringing in ponder as the return specialist would be awesome......

The advantage with Dayne is he knows the ZBS. I'd rather have him than Herron. Imagine the cheer he'd get at Lambeau!

dayne would pack a serious wallop in the zbs if he's familiar enough with it after his time in denver.....

I think Tyrone Calico is the most talented WR let go w/o serious background issues. I think he might be Green Bay's 3rd most talanted WR.
                              That surprised me

Ponder was a nice special teams player and capable WR; the Ideal #4-5.

I'd be happy with either of them.

But my guess is TT is looking for young projects with serious upside who won't help us that much this year.
