Josh Doctson
School: TCU
Position: WR
Positive: Three-year starter who began his career at Wyoming. Awarded All-America and all-Conference honors last season after posting career totals of 79 receptions, 1327 yards and 14 TDs. Dependable possession receiver who consistently finds ways to come free. Fluid releasing off the line scrimmage, uses his hands to keep defenders away and runs solid routes. Quickly gets into breaks, comes back to the ball on exit and uses his frame to shield away defenders. Natural hand catcher, consistently makes the reception away from his body and displays a tremendous sense of timing. Plays with balance, body control and smooth in all his movements. Tracks the ball in the air, plays heads-up football and knows where he is on the field. Gets vertical and competes to make the reception in a crowd.
Negative: Average release off the line of scrimmage. Lacks deep speed and cannot run to the long throw. Lacks classic possession receiver size.
Analysis: Doctson was the go to receiver at TCU the past 3 years and a dependable wide out who came up big during the games important moments. More of an underneath wide out, he offers potential in a variety of systems and projects well as a number two receiver on Sunday.I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

I just can't believe Ashawn could be there.Originally posted by Bretsky View PostYUP; there is a DL from there who might fall into our lap round one tooBut Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

3. JOSH DOCTSON | TCU 6020|202 lbs|5SR Mansfield, Texas (Legacy) 12/3/1992 (age 23) #9

BACKGROUND: A three-star wide receiver recruit out of high school, Doctson received offers from Wyoming, Duke and Tulsa, choosing the “family atmosphere” of the Wyoming program – also a three-year letterman in basketball. He started as a true freshman in 2011, recording 35 catches for 393 yards and five touchdowns, but because of an illness in his family, Doctson sought a move closer to home. Doctson decided to transfer and walk on at TCU (his dream school growing up) where his mother worked as the vice chancellor of marketing and communications, sitting out the 2012 season due to transfer rules. He worked his way into the starting rotation at receiver as a sophomore and led the team in receiving with 36 catches for 440 yards and four touchdowns. Doctson emerged as one of the better wide receivers in the country as a junior in 2014, leading the team with 65 receptions for 1,018 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning Second Team All-Big 12 honors. Doctson had his best season in 2015 as a senior, setting new TCU records for catches (79), receiving yards (1,327) and touchdown catches (14) in only 10 games. He was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award and earned First Team All-Big 12 and All-America honors. Doctson accepted his invitation to the 2016 Senior Bowl, but was unable to participate due to injury.
STRENGTHS: Tall athlete with long arms and adequate muscle tone for the position…outstanding leaping ability, body control and ballskills to elevate with springs in his legs to out-jump defenders…extends with magnet hands to pluck away from his body, displaying usually terrific focus and tracking ability – doesn’t wait for the ball to come to him…uses his body well to box out and shield defenders from the ball…immediately looks to turn catches upfield with deceiving run toughness and a strong stiff arm…creates spacing in his routes and finds open zones to give his quarterback a clear target…unselfish, dependable and hungry worker – can’t find anyone who will say a negative word about his character…highly productive, leading TCU in receiving each of his three seasons with the program – leaves Fort Worth with the most receiving yards in school history (2,785) and a single game (267).
WEAKNESSES: Lean-framed and thin-boned, limiting his growth potential…upright runner and won’t break many tackles as a ballcarrier – runs tough, but not powerful…too soft over the middle, looking for the safety and not attacking the ball with the same vigor…will have some focus drops, allowing footsteps to distract him at the catch point…not a proficient route runner at this stage in his development – not below average in this area, but still has a lot of room to grow…doesn’t offer any return experience on special teams…will turn 24 years old during his rookie NFL season…medicals need vetted – missed time with a right ankle injury (Oct. 2014); broke his hand and required surgery (March 2015), sidelining him for most of spring and fall camp; broken left wrist (Nov. 2015), which required pins and prematurely ended his senior season.
SUMMARY: A three-year starter in TCU’s spread offense, Doctson blossomed at flanker when Gary Patterson hired Sonny Cumbie and Doug Meacham as offensive coordinators prior to the 2014 season to inject life into the play-calling – only three times in TCU’s history has a player gone over 1,000-yards receiving in a season and two belong to Doctson. All of his experience has come in a spread offense that didn’t ask him to run a full route tree, but he shows outstanding effort on throws in his zip code, expanding his catch radius, contorting his body and finding ways to finish catches – bailed out Trevone Boykin on a number of errant passes on film. Doctson lacks polish in areas, but has the resilient mentality and on-field skill-set to contribute early and settle into a No. 2 receiver role – top-50 NFL prospect, similar to Jordan Matthews when he entered the league out of Vanderbilt.

From PFF:
ncluded are three ideal targets for each team with their first-, second-, and third-round picks, along with a team-specific draft board (at the bottom of this article) that includes every player in PFF’s draft rankings.
Here is the entry for the Minnesota Vikings:
Round 1 (23rd overall)
Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State
The Vikings are in the market for a wide receiver, but also a specific type of wideout. With Josh Doctson likely off the board by the time they pick, the team should be focused instead on Michael Thomas, who has the size (6-foot-3, 212 pounds) and strength to become a difference-maker. Minnesota has quickness elsewhere in the receiving corps, but are lacking the physicality that Thomas can bring to help Bridgewater out in the underneath game. He also has the ability to go deep and win downfield against defensive backs in this offense.
Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
PFF may be lower on Treadwell than other people, but he still makes a lot of sense for a team like the Vikings in the first round. He may not separate well, but he is physical and has impressive run-after-the-catch skills, breaking 17 tackles with the ball in his hands last season. He could become the possession target in this offense and free up Stefon Diggs on the other side.
Karl Joseph, S, West Virginia
There is only one safety in this class worthy of a first-round pick, and Karl Joseph is that guy. He is a very close match for Harrison Smith as a player who can play in all safety roles in a defense, and would give the Vikings an incredibly versatile pairing, allowing them to become incredibly creative and disguise their coverages in a way most teams cannot.
