Couple of these numbers are pretty skewed. I expect some moves in the near future, -1 or 2 WR, -2 Safeties, +1 OL, +1 RB, +1LS!

Davis to IR. Add a long snapper back in. What's the speculation on the two safeties? I don't see any of that group going anywhere.Originally posted by Guiness View PostCouple of these numbers are pretty skewed. I expect some moves in the near future, -1 or 2 WR, -2 Safeties, +1 OL, +1 RB, +1LS!
It would be great if Burks and/or Murphy get upgraded and those two are demoted but those are net zero to the positions....

12DBs though? I know it's a pass happy league, but wow.Originally posted by vince View PostDavis to IR. Add a long snapper back in. What's the speculation on the two safeties? I don't see any of that group going anywhere.

A bunch of fast and aggressive ST guys for the foreseeable future, plus I think we're seeing some evolution toward a new defensive wrinkle with LB/S tweeners playing up in run support, slot/inside zone pass defenders. blitzers and overall playmakers swarming to the ball. A bunch of these guys have skills to fit that bill.Originally posted by Guiness View Post12DBs though? I know it's a pass happy league, but wow.

I'm not sure Morgan Burnett is up to playing the Deone Bucannon role, but Arizona has been successful with this scheme. Worth noting: @CarlBradford54, who made #Packers 53 (but was 16-game inactive) in '14 and was on practice squad in '15 is still PS eligible.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Teams have now gone beyond dime defenses, and use 7 DBs at one time. We might start seeing 8 or 9 DBs active on game days. Having 10-12 on the roster may become the norm.Originally posted by Guiness View Post12DBs though? I know it's a pass happy league, but wow.
Hyde will be a free agent next year. He brings a lot of versatility to the team, but the Packers now potentially have his replacements at CB, S, punt return and kickoff return if they decide to let him go.
Burnett and Shields will be free agents after the 2017 season. Both have had more than their shares of injuries. I doubt either will see another GB contract, and if the young guys work out, one or both of Shields and Burnett could be gone next year. If Shields holds true to form, he will miss at least a couple games this year. Do we even know if Burnett is ready to play now?
Banjo is there for STs and is very replaceable otherwise.
If a team finds DBs they think have shots at being capable starters, they really have to keep them. GB may have even more reasons to do so than some other teams.

I expect Davis or Dorleant will go on IR to make room. Either would then be eligible for recall if needed. Absent injuries to others, neither is likely to be active on game days anyway, so stashing one on IR makes roster sense. Both looked to have significant injuries, especially Davis.Originally posted by pbmax View Posthttp://www.espn.com/blog/green-bay-p...ode-to-re-sign

Isn't there a start date on the IR now to be eligible for returning? Is it now or after the Week 1 games?Originally posted by Patler View PostI expect Davis or Dorleant will go on IR to make room. Oh...that splains why they weren't IR'd previously.
But do you really think you'd use that return designation for either of those untested rooks?
This is some weird roster shit going down. I hope one of their 23 defensive backs can play nose tackle, and maybe one of the 14 wide receivers can play guard."The Devine era is actually worse than you remember if you go back and look at it."

They no longer have to designate a player for return, they can just use it on any eligible IR'd player they decide . My point was that they can use it for them if they need to later in the season if they lose a bunch of WRs or DBs.Originally posted by Fritz View PostOh...that splains why they weren't IR'd previously.
