Just want it know that I like Cam. Once in awhile he shows some immaturity, but he seems like a good kid and a hard worker, and he's a damn good QB.
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

His personality really grates on me, but I can't help but respect his toughness. Especially after last night.
four? i know of three. the incidental face mask bump from miller shouldn't be counted. there was one hard tackle where he got sandwiched by a couple of guys but i didn't see helmet contact...he was a runner on that play too.

What about that time-out called by the Denver bench a moment before the Carolina kicker made the (apparent) winning FG? Anyone else think that's bush league and ought to be outlawed?
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

See, you're probably a very young person and don't know that that has been going on since the Beatles were a thing. The Beatles were a band. From Britain. Anyway, I thought I saw the official standing over the ball waving his hands before the snap.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

I hate it because it's like a legal technicality...like when a smart ass lawyer gets a case dismissed against his murderer client because the judge signed the warrant on the wrong line or something. It's mocking the game.

Remember Don Money's grand slam that wasn't? Or Hank Aaron called out at the plate for hitting a home run with his foot out of the batter's box?

Time-outs should be at the discretion of the official and the official should not recognize the request...especially if the coach calling the time-out warns the official he's gonna call time-out with 1 second left.

What if your team isn't aligned properly? Officials shouldn't be in the business of determining why you want a time-out.

I only follow good old American bands...like Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Lawrence Welk. I think I've heard of the Beatles though. They all needed a haircut.

I disagree because officials make judgements all the time. It wouldn't matter the motivation for the time-out, just whether or not it could be communicated to all the players in time. In baseball the ump doesn't have to recognize a time-out request if he feels it's too late to stop the pitcher from winding up.

Typically, a team may call a time out up until the snap of the ball--assuming the official recognizes the request. Often a play is blown dead when an official recognizes that the request for a time-out came before the snap. (I remember seeing a game in which the offense had a touchdown called back because the offensive HC asked for a time-out just before the snap.) I can't imagine any other way to operate than using the snap as the demarcation between "in time" or "too late" to call a time-out.

Do you want all the rules regarding calling a time-out changed? Or would there be a separate set of rules designed to prevent the "icing" time-out prior to a field goal?

If a placekicker misses a field goal after having been "iced" I lay that problem on the kicking team, not on the opponent. The tactic is well-known and responding to it is part of the kicking team's responsibility.

I see your point but I don't think very many think of it as a terribly underhanded trick.

Basketball fans wave crazy crap in front of opposing players when they shoot free throws. Should we put a stop to that? You could try, but it would be a ridiculous rule to enforce. "Technical foul on the fan in the red for yelling 'Miss it!'"

What if a football stadium pumped in noise? Oh, wait, they've already lost draft picks for that.

I just think that any rule establishing an anti-freeze time-out protocol would be thought of as too much meddling for too little result. And now I feel like I should get off the barstool, take a leak, and change the subject when I get back.

Seriously though, the missed called on h2h were ridiculous. This one by Marshall in particular, you can see he's still a yard away when the ball is already in the air, and he leaves his feet!

                            and the gif...
How in the fuck was that not called? The Marshall headhunting that is.

That was called, but Cal was called for grounding and the penalties offset.

Edit: Sorry...it was called on the Stewart hit.

you know, i just think he likes to have fun, which is good to see, seeings how they're playing a GAME

as for him being pissy after losing the Super bowl. good for him for being pissed that he just lost the biggest game of his life. i acted worse then that when i lost a game of cornhole on labor day.

imagine the shit storm if he would have been smiling after the super bowl and said, "oh well, i still get paid either way"?

nfl should be ashamed after the whole crack down on h2h last year to let 3 go unflagged in the first game of the season happening on one of its biggest stars and money makers
