NFL confirms it is ok to hit Newton in the head

NFL reviewed the film of the Washington-Carolina game, and decided the helmet to helmet hit Trent Murphy put on Newton while he was sliding was acceptable - no penalty, no fine.

I'm not sure if the refs and NFL just figure "he's a big guy, he can take it" or if he peed in Goodell's cornflakes. It's not a blatant hit by any means, but I bet ANY contacting any other QB that way would gets the flag and the fine.

Something I've noticed and think is a little foolish is the head first slides by QBs I've been seeing. Rodgers has done it a few times.
