A good analysis of Rodgers' Hail Mary passes:
    https://www.theguardian.com/sport/bl...s-analysis-nfl

Rodgers is now the leader in Hail Mary passes. The key is that he can sky the throw and still hit the spot in the end zone. They didn't measure all the passes, but the one in Detroit hit a height of 78 feet. Fortunately the Dallas scoreboard is at 90' so he should be able to launch it on Sunday without worrying about the scoreboard.

On Larry McCarren's TV show this week, a lady asked how far a pass had to travel to be considered a "Hail Mary". Of course, no one had an answer.

This article listed criteria as :
The play’s name itself is a plea for a miracle, originally used by Notre Dame’s legendary Four Horsemen to describe any long, seemingly hopeless pass but has come to mean one final desperate throw of at least half-a-field with zeros on the clock.
If that is the criteria, does the pass against the Giants qualify? It was a 42 yard completion. Does the QBs drop back count? The receiver's depth in the endzone? If those additional yards count, what is "half a field", 50 yards or 60 yards because of the endzones? If it is completed with 1 second remaining, or is incomplete on fourth down with 1 second remaining, was it not a Hail Mary?

If it is incomplete, then the answer is this: Hail, no.

The answer is something like...I can't identify it directly, but I can tell you when I see it.
