The NFL is generally 5-10 years behind the curve when it comes to pop culture.
Remember when Sugar Gay was the halftime entertainment at the Pro Bowl?
If not for the wardrobe malfunction, Janet Jackson was not someone even considered relevant in the last dozen years. How about Bon Jovi on opening kickoff night a couple of years back.

I thought the exact same thing. I look over when it starts and saw her face. I thought, "She's still sings in public?" Really strange to see her on opening night... You'd think they'd use some whiny, emo band (redundant, I know) to wussify the sport. I think Pink was the lesser of two emos---evils.

Actually Pink is at her all-time high right now for popularity. She won a couple VMA awards last week, too. Her new CD is freaken aweseome. Love Pink...that she has the "F U" attitude and does what she wants!

However, looking at the overall picture, I can understand why many can say that she wasn't a good pick to open things up. It's hard to find someone who can please everyone....besides those bands schedule's are pretty locked up right now finishing up their performances at the ol' county fairs!!
