First game in a year, at Pittsburgh, against one of the best defenses in the league, when you are unable to run the ball. I still think he's going to be a very good pickup for Miami. They are a different team with him. They have all of the pieces in place to be a playoff team.
Harvey, he was down by 4 with 6 to go.......he melted down.

??? agree, but harv, you have to admit, Rastak is right. Culpepper has a history of coughing it up in crunch time, and interceptions have PLAGUED him in his career.

And back to Harvey, he's a good QB and he's not bad, he just seems to blow it when things don't just roll for him.

            • Easy to say now, but at the end of the half they had some better plays in the run. They really abandoned it by mid-third quarter.

              • I think I just heard the backing track to Billie Jean on the broadcast. That isn't a good sign.

                  • He hasn't won many big games, no question. He has won some games. He didn't exactly have great defenses to work with in Minnesota. Last year, he threw a lot of interceptions. I wouldn't say he's been that bad though. He had 64 TDs and just 22 interceptions in 2003-2004. Outside of 2002 and the first half of 2005, he hasn't really thrown that many interceptions. He never had more than 16 interceptions in the other 4 seasons. He fumbles a whole lot though.

My last comment before hitting the sack, it was a tough game on the road...I'm sure he'll do some good things this year...he did melt down though....

I don't know. Viking fans act like he's a stiff and complete choker. He had some GREAT years in Minnesota, but many of those years he had horrible defenses to work with. He was only really poor in 2002 and the first half of 2005. I'd take a QB with seasons of 33 TDs/16 interceptions; 25 TDs/11 interceptions; 39 TDs/11 interceptions--and that doesn't even take into account his 450 rushing yards and 6 rushing TDs/season.

I think he's going to do very well in Miami. That defense will lift a big burden off him. He has a lot of weapons in Brown, Chambers, Booker, and McMichael too.

                            • Sure, he choked tonight, but just like I wouldn't write Brett Favre or Brad Johnson off if they have a bad game this weekend, I won't write him off. It doesn't get much tougher than playing at Pittsburgh on opening night after long layoff.
