  • 2018: Nelson or Cobb

Many pundits are claiming with Nelson and Cobb both on big contracts (at least through next year) and it being absolutely imperative they sign Adams, the Packers will have to choose between Nelson or Cobb.

My personal view is they'll keep both and sign Adams. The Packers have kept big contracts before that everyone anticipated they'd cut.

How do the rats see this one falling out?

I think both will be back and Ted will draft a WR this spring.

I hope we keep all 3 but could see Cobb gone. Hope Clays gone too. Good players but would need to take cuts to invest in the future imo.

I said cut both. But on second thought, Cobb may have a little more tread on the tire. He looks dead, but lets see rest of season.

This is a two year old article (add two years to age, Einstein)

WR is a very young position. Jordy at 33 will be pretty ancient.
Although Jordy with Rodgers might be viable. Even Fred Sanford can catch an accurate back shoulder throw.

I thinks Ted says Siyanora to Cobb. Nelson comes back, Clark steps up, Ted drafts a second-round wonder.

Neither are going anywhere. Even if you cut one, who is ready to be #3?

Maybe, maybe, if they move Monty back to WR they may let Cobb go as Monty can play he slot.

Cut Cobb, Restructure CMIII and make sure TT still is $10 mil under the cap.

For one more Season if TT can swing it..keep both Cobb and Nelson.

Get rid of Clay Mathews ..he is done as a Packer.

Impossible to know what they still have in Nelson and Cobb until there is a real QB back there. I would punt, draft a receiver on second day (pass rusher on first), and make the big decision about the dinosaurs in August.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but hear me out....
Since Cobb and Nelson appear to no longer be effective as #2, or #3 options you address it by adding WRs through free agency, the draft and/or trades.

Unless you think having a 34 year old who can't gain a yard on a wr screen as your #2, #3 is a viable option for another year.

Lotta effective 34 yo WRs. No reason to dump him because Hundley can't find him, he was doing fine with Rodgers but he is not the same player. FA is mixed bag. They are all on market for same reason Nelson would be; no longer the same value or talent. You have to replace the talent AND get him for cheaper to make a switch pay off unless you have a younger player ready to go.

Cobb is slightly different as he might be effectively replaced by Monty. But that requires another position switch.

                          Ya, I forgot about that.

Wait a sec, Cobb does have some QB experience....

See my list above, fuck face. They are rare.

Jordy will be serious contender for oldest wideout in league.

But I do hedge my bet just cause Jordy has worked magic with AROD for a long time with timing.

I bet they can get these guys back for Packer-friendly contracts. Or they can start practicing to take over for Jennings when he gets fired.
