  • Best Packer win in an inconsequential game?

    Some candidates:

2000 - Win at Minnesota: Ahman Green behind Clifton and Tauscher runs the Vikings defense into the ground. Vonnie Holliday injures Viking QB Dante Culpepper's ankle, which lingered into the playoffs and help seal their devastating loss to the Giants in the NFCC game.

    2006 - Packers punk the Superbowl-bound Bears.

KGB with memorable sack (ha, ha, sack)

1988 - Packers were 0-5 and beat the Patriots 45-3 at Milwaukee County Stadium for Lindy Infante's first win. Packers defense intercepted Doug Flutie and Steve Grogan 5 times. Chuck Cecil knocked Stanley Morgan out of the game with a vicious blind-side hit on an INT return...Oops. Times were different. Not sure if it was helmet-to-helmet.

^ So the "After Further Review: The Bears Still Suck" game has to be up there, no? Or were they in the wild card race?

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Yeah, they were in the playoff mix until the very end when MN beat Cincy in the last game of the season, IIRC.

I remember watching the Cincy game and they kept flashing to Majik at home with two other players watching hoping for a win....sad outcome.

Thanksgiving Day 1986. Packers beat the Lions 44-40 on an 83 yard punt return by Walter Stanley with 40 seconds left in the game.

I believe that was 1980. I lived in Houston, having just moved there with my brother and a friend. We went out for Thanksgiving dinner and watched the game on a TV at the restaurant.

I was wrong. The 1980 game was the Bears beating the Lions in OT on the kickoff. I hated the Lions, so I enjoyed that.

That game was fun. These meaningless wins over the Vikings in 1988 were fun also. The Packers went 4-12 but swept the Vikings. Tim Harris was a beast.

Didn't Tim Harris hold a grudge about a certain team or coach? Was it the Vikes?

I was actually in the stands for a couple of good inconsequential games...

I'm pretty sure that was that the game Davenport was bent over backwards during a tackle, and made a 'errh' sound clearly audible over the tv microphones. Best game of his career.
