2018 NFL Draft Prospects: Inside Linebackers

      ** Cross Check Source RE:i

      Malik Jefferson , ILB, Texas ... Height: 6-2. Weight: 236. Arm: 32.

      40 Time: 4.52. ... Projected Round (2018): 2-3.

" ...3/25/18: Jefferson totaled 110 tackles with 10 tackles for a loss and four sacks in 2017. He played hard for Texas and turned in his best season. Jefferson isn't great in pass coverage or at taking on blocks in the run game. He is at his best being a pursuit linebacker when running free and using his instincts to make plays.

Sources have said that teams are hearing that Jefferson doesn't have a deep love for football. That was illustrated in him not producing up to his great skill set early on in his collegiate career and in offseason training according to league contacts. Jefferson supposedly was unhappy with his role in the former staff's scheme, but that makes team sources question if Jefferson's work ethic will change when he has coaches going and coming as a pro. ..."

      NOTE:

ILB Malik Jefferson TEXAS ...WHY !? He looks like a late 4th or Early 5th Round Pick....There are many better Options as ILB Prospects or about 10 of them ! He's been falling like 'a Rock in water'. I've got him as the 148th Ranked Prospect NFL.Com with a GRADE = 5.57.

I see it this way and ILB:

At ILB go with one of these: Josey Jewell, Iowa, 6'1" and 234 lbs and GRADE = 5.57 OR Tegray Scales

      Indiana
      , 6'0" and 230 lbs GRADE = 5.63 and NFL.COM Ranked 101 Prospect. OR Micah Kiser, Virginia, 6'0"and

238 lbs. GRADE = 5.59. Others that I'd Rank Higher and at the ILB Position are: Jerome Baker Ohio State. 6'1" and 229 lbs

OR Mike McCray,,Michigan, 6'1" and 243 lbs OR Christian Sam, Arizona State, 6'1" and 244 lbs

I went 'other' and Safety Justin Reid, STANFORD is my Pick. Why?

This is the NFL.Com's BPA and he's solid. He's excellent value at Pick NO. 45 Overall as he's NFL.Com's 21'st Ranked Prospect.

Safety - Justin Reid, STANFORD, GRADE 6.06

            HEIGHT = 6' 0" ... WEIGHT = 207 lbs

            ARMS = 31 5/8” ... HANDS = 9 3/4”

The 2018 NFL Scouting Combine workout from Stanford safety Justin Reid.

David Shaw Head Coach of Stanford Remarks on Safety Justin Reid's tremendous Work Ethic and love for football: 'This Guy is going to wear out a DB Coach.'

His brother is former LSU All-American and NFL Pro Bowl safety Eric Reid, He followed his brother’s example by garnering second-team Associated Press All-American accolades in 2017, while also receiving a first-team all-conference nod, by starting 11 of 14 games, compiling 99 tackles, 6.5 for loss, five interceptions, and six pass breakups. Reid's father, Eric Sr., ran track at LSU and his brother, Ryan, plays soccer at Coastal Carolina.

            Overview

" Safety Justin Reid is what teams are looking for at the safety position in 2018. He's a plus size/speed prospect who has the athletic ability to help with man coverage and the instincts and ball skills for ball-hawking duties on the back end.

Reid can get himself into some trouble when he's overly aggressive, but his positive plays far outweigh the negative. He has the talent to become an early starter and a good one. Reid's instincts and play traits should make him a safe selection with Pro Bowl potential down the road."

              Safety Ronnie Harrison.

" Harrison was a second-team All-SEC pick in 2017, tying for the team lead with 74 tackles, making 4.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage including 2.5 sacks, intercepting three passes, and breaking up four others."

              Overview

" Combination safety with all the size and athletic traits you could hope for in a safety. Harrison is a fluid athlete with few athletic limitations and has the ability to fit into a variety of defensive schemes.

His penchant for flying in shoulder first will need to get cleaned or risk giving up missed tackles and big plays.

Harrison's physical approach and urgency in run support gives him a chance to start early."

                CB Carlton Davis, Auburn - 6' 1" 206 lbs. GRADE 6.00

                Combine Results:

                40 Yard Dash + 4.53 SECONDS ... Bench Press= 16 REPS

                Vertical Jump= 34.0 INCHES ... Broad Jump= 124.0 INCHES

                Overview

" ... Davis' combination of height, weight, length and ball skills make him a nuisance that college wide receivers could do without on Saturdays. Davis has some struggles mirroring routes in space and is best as a full-time press corner who is able to use his length and strength to take wideouts out of their game. Davis plays with confidence and some edge and was able to show and prove against NFL-caliber talent over the last three years. In the right scheme, he could become a high-impact starter. ..."

"His own quarterback (Jarrett Stidham) stayed away from throwing to his side in practice from what a scout told me. I need to find out if he can catch it because he just knocks them down and doesn't take them away. You've got to take them away." -- NFC defensive back coach

I chose Carlton Davis out of this group (thought about Hayden Hurst), but I wouldn't be surprised if it's somebody not from this group. Austin Corbett, Branden Smith, Michael Gallup, Brian O'Neill (only because they drafted a similar project in Spriggs, so they like the type), Anthony Averett, Duke Dawson, Nick Nelson, Justin Reid could be some surprise options.

" ...Tall and fast, Chark is a linear route-runner who may need a limited route tree, but who has the potential to back safeties off the line of scrimmage. Chark will be coveted by play-action passing attacks looking to win with chunk plays down the field, but he'll need to improve his ball skills to take advantage of all that speed. Chark could struggle early on against press coverage, but he has the ability to become a solid WR2. ..."

                            The Pick is easy.

The second Group of Top 20 Prospects RE: GRADE.

My Guy is Safety (Jr.) Justin Reid, STANFORD because he's the best talent available now with NFL.COM's 21'st Overall Grade of 6.06.

                            His Measurables are outstanding.

He's fast 4.4 Sec./40 Yards and solid Bs the Run and Pass and can go sideline to sideline. He tackles well.

He has a terrific attitude and is a Team Player; a hard worker and dedicated to and loves football. His Head Coach is very entusiastic about his future in the NFL. He has realistic PRO BOWL Potential.

" He followed his brother’s (Eric Reid's) example by garnering second-team Associated Press All-American accolades in 2017, while also receiving a first-team all-conference nod, by starting 11 of 14 games, compiling 99 tackles, 6.5 for loss, five interceptions, and six pass breakups. "There aren't too many issues in his game. If he tests well he could sneak into the back half of the first is my guess. He's better in coverage than his brother."
                            -- NFC General Manager

That's all good enough for me.

In this POLL he should definitely be there and he's the BPA overall and we need at DB (Safety).

Safety Justin Reid, STANFORD is bright and a determined hard worker and extremely athletic. He'll one day Captain an NFL\ Teams Defense.
