  • Just because a future pick is a future asset I don't see why one would diminish it's value on the scale.

    Here's a theory for you:

They will have the opportunity to trade up for a quarterback next year since they have two #1s.

        Yes.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

The theory is that in the NFL the future is now and as CCR once sang "tomorrow never comes" - but I agree, next years asset is quite real and allows good stuff.

          • It's impossible right now to tell how the draft with the Saints plays out. Until we know how the Saints record ends up being, we don't know. If they have big injuries and it's a top-15 pick, then Gute is a genius.

                • Don't mind Alexander, but didn't like how the trades worked out. If you go by the theory that a pick in the following year is equivalent to one round later, that's going to be roughly equivalent to a late 2nd for a top half of the third and a 5th. Just that is a pretty even trade, and we also dropped four spots in the first round. It could work out, but it will likely take a Drew Brees injury to do so, and he's been ultra durable.

ON THAT SPECIFIC DEAL.......WE let NO Saints move up 13 spots for the equivalent of a 2nd (next years 1st) and a 5th this year

                    THIS IS JUST NOT ENOUGH
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

But it doesn't help now unless you deal it now.

So its value while it remains a future asset is discounted to the present. Very illiquid.

Can be very valuable, but it has some limitations.

I see no reason to go by this theory. The pick is based on where NO finishes. Hope they have a bad year now. It was somewhat interesting how they reached up for Davenport though.

Exactly. If the Saints aren't in the Divisional Playoffs again next year, the pick will be lower and of greater value.

If they pick 20, playoff round one loss, the trade is dead even.
