Most importantly who's got the heady cap relief for this year or the cap hit in coming years. We need space for Mack dammit

If I was Rodgers, this video would be playing on a loop at least through the first game of the season. Might also be a ringtone or voicemail message.

WTMJ is reporting that with all incentives, bonuses, etc. the new contract has a maximum potential value of $180 million. I wonder if some of the potential "extra" is for escalators that kick in if another player signs a bigger contract.

Pugger's ESPN link has the smallest details I have seen, it'll probably be a while before the full details are leaked:

The extension includes nearly $103 million total in guarantees, another record amount, and has an annual average value of $33.5 million, according to Schefter.

The total maximum value of the deal is between $176 million and $180 million, based on $4 million in incentives tied to helping the Packers make the playoffs and finishing top three in quarterback rating, the source told Schefter.

An important feature of the deal for Rodgers was the cash flow in the first year, according to Schefter. Rodgers will receive $67 million by the end of the 2018 calendar year and an additional $13 million before March 17, 2019, according to Schefter.

I want to know the cap hit for the next 3 years, I think that more than anything else will tell us if Khali Mack's contract is doable or not. My instinct is yes, based on what Gute has been saying about unique players.

                    Packer Report @PackerReport
Writing Rodgers for VIP. Of note ... in 2014, when his previous extension really kicked in, he consumed 13.20 percent of the cap. In 2019, based on @Jason_OTC's projections, Rodgers could command 13.16 percent of the cap.

If my information is correct, Aaron Rodgers’ extension should free up over $15.4M in cap space for the #Packers.
                        — Zachary Jacobson (@ZachAJacobson) August 29, 2018
It is significant that the Packers were able to free up salary since it might signify that the team is looking to make some moves in the near future. Recently, GM Brian Gutekunst said that he was willing to spend money to acquire quality talent to help bolster Green Bay's roster.

With some holes in their defense, maybe the Packers will make a legitimate attempt to acquire Khalil Mack?

So... what % is paid to the QB and Offense vs Defense (ignore ST) by year? Will we be competitive on D - enough to outlast a bad playoff game, weather or injuries? Will nfl expand the pool, grow past 53 or allow luxury tax?

I think it’s a fair deal. he deserves it and is one of best ever. But at what cost? Is this his last contract? Does he end up a Viking at 41?
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.

It ends up being 6 years 180..... so 30/year. Just about right. But holy shit, that’s a lot of dough!

good, now maybe we can have some peace, at least until next offseason when the next QB signs a bigger deal and florio gets back up on his box again about how the packers are disrespecting a-rod again
