He basically IS the team, and he's getting paid accordingly. With a bonus that large, the cap shouldn't be stretched too much in the early years, and assuming he's still fairly near the top of his game by '22, another deal should smooth out the cap hit then.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

I think it’s a fair deal. he deserves it and is one of best ever. But at what cost? Is this his last contract? Does he end up a Viking at 41?
OTC or Spotrac will give you offense versus defense, but OTC and Bill Huber projected Favre's money next year will be 13.16% of the cap, if it goes up as projected (by about $10 mil per team).

He was already predicting dissatisfaction in Year 4 on his podcast today because Rodgers gets close to 60% of contract value in first 3 years. Used Julio Jones as an example. However, Rodgers has never agitated like Jones has about being passed up. There may be other differences but I have not been paying attention to Jones specific complaints.

I suspect it will be enough to be the bonus, new money and cap champion twice in his career. Contract renegotiation at 38 likely will not be the same as this one.

If Spotrac is right, Packers could conceivably refuse to pay his 4.8 million roster bonus in 2020 (probably just after new league year starts in March) and have a cap hit that doesn't swamp the cap savings over the next two years. Could be a 2 year deal if he gets hurt. That is why its a nearly $60 million signing bonus.

This is what you can buy if you have $134 million.

I think he can afford both.

No shit, ARod never complained. He went to work knowing when the contract was done he would be the highest paid player again. And he knows in 2 or 3 years he will be out of the top 5 like before.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

His cap number prior to the extension was about $20 million, right?

Cause if OTC (based on Florio's report) is right, the hit this year is about the same.

Aaron Rodgers contract and salary cap details, including signing bonus, guaranteed salary, dead money, roster bonuses, and contract history

To supplement (or supersede) the instant analysis of the new Aaron Rodgers contract based on the numbers reported by former teammate James Jones, PFT has obtained more details about the deal.

Also, there no longer appears to be a bonus in 2020, but theoretically cutting him becomes a possibility. He has a $13 million bonus due next year.
