Yep, beat Patriots and then lost to the Steelers in a game that was well within reach.

I also thought about Bud Carson, partial architect of the Steel Curtain as Browns head coach, but thought he lasted only one season and was dumped. However, he lasted 1.5 seasons and in his first, with Marc Trestman as OC (hired at the recommendation of Bernie Kosar and embarrassed on a national telecast by Bill Walsh), they beat the Bills in the Divisional Round before losing, once again, to the fucking Broncos and horse face. Was the 3rd and final loss to those bastards in this stretch, but they were not done haunting me.

I didn't agree with their conclusions (they thought the Browns would move to St. Louis). The shock waves of that change would have been interesting (I think that the Browns win at least one Super Bowl and they never leave Cleveland)

Which means of NYG, Washington and San Fran, each would have been a tough matchup. I tend to think they actually were most even with the 49ers, but the Giants could be had as well. No one in the playoffs was stopping Rypien and the smurfs. Those guys made Timmie Smith a SB MVP.
