The most astonishing thing about that article is to find Sid Hartman still alive and working. That guy must be nearing 110.

Did Sid Hartman give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

In retrospect it worked out poorly. But when those silos start to communicate... McCarthy wanted a blocking TE.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Maybe the Ball Silo thought Cook was too expensive. So too many cooks got you fewer Cook.

Could be. Two Silos against One Silo usually win out.

That story always seemed wacky. I think they suddenly discovered they were in the running for Bennett with a plausible-iso reason to move away from Cook.

Doug Flutie spoke at the Von Miller summit. Flutie told pass rushers to ask offensive linemen for the snap count because "those guys are so stupid that they always ask" each other.

Ouch. Doug getting personal. What is a Von Miller Summit you ask?

Not quite, but close. It was the year the Japanese surrendered. First article in 1945 per his bio. The guy is 99 years old and still writing.

                            • It Could Be Worse Department, Texans.

Not excited about silos or the triumvirate of accountability? Still might be better than having an Executive for Team Development fire your GM after a 17 month tenure.

I think the best way to sum up Brian Gaine’s tenure as general manager of the Houston Texans is that he had small ambitions and accomplished those well. Gaine didn’t trade for Deshaun Watson. He didn’t show much urgency at the trading deadline in coming away with only Demaryius Thomas. He signed a single player … Continue reading "How to lose a GM in 17 months: what to make of the Brian Gaine firing?"

To be fair, there are several possible scenarios, including the Head Coach and the owners son activating the trap door. But one of the most connected beat guys, Lance Zierlein, thinks it was this guy, Jack Easterby. He was formerly the Chiefs chaplain and seems to be some kind of leadership coach.

                              • Everyone relax. The Vikings have used up all their other cap space on Kyle Rudolph.
