Anyways, not to be a smart ass, but orangutans are apes, not monkeys. Evolution has pretty much annihilated tails from apes. It seems senseless to name a team the Redtails and use an orangutan as it’s mascot.

As for the Redtails, ole Ras meant naming the Washington NFL team after the Tuskegee Airmen, the all-black air force unit that was prominent in winning WW2 for Uncle Sam. Redtail would be woke, yo. Especially, honorable.

My first thought re: Red tails is the hawk. The Tuskegee Airmen homage wouldn't be bad, but I suspect it would be lost on many.
I'm sure many Native Americans and race-aware people don't find "Redskins" very honoring.

Was about to fall down a potential FYI rabbit hole, but I'll side step it and just say that at one point the Packers were the Acme Packers, not the Green Bay Packers. Many team change names, it's ok.

I Kinda hate to share this but I just installed a digital antenna in anticipation of getting rid of DirecTV. I will not be doing the NFL package anymore. The wife and I are writing up a letter to the Packer organization. Our kids were in the season ticket queue and we’re dropping that too. I’m giving up on the Packers and the NFL. Don’t like it but I’m done cheering for people who hate my guts. Maybe they will come to their senses, but I doubt it. Even in that case, I find myself caring less and less as the years go by.
