There is a sense that Brown's deal with Washington was dumb and he is closer to one year deal part of his career the long term deal part. But I agree, would have been a nice addition.

But the Eagles are still at it:

The #Rams asked DB Blake Countess to take a pay cut from his $2M tender and they could not come to terms, source said. They are releasing him. LA drafted two safeties this year, but the door is open to return if he clears waivers.

Update: The #Eagles claimed Blake Countess.

When the Eagles kicked Howard Roseman upstairs for Chip Kelly, I would have hesitated to bet which one was smarter about how football should be played (Roseman helped build a lot of Reid's Eagles teams). But its not really close anymore is it?
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Wasn't Roseman the youngest GM ever at the time? This year, he revamped his running back position just like that with a good deal and a draft pick. Seems to know how to build a roster, a team, using every mechanism available. damn.

Yeah, back when he and Joe Banner were there. He also had the Raiders fooled when he traded up with the Ravens and took a OL instead of a RB (Peter King's FNIA column at PFT).

That story plus the fact that the Eagles were supposed to be interested in a safety (but another team had them pegged for RB and OL) makes me think Gute's case for trading up hasn't been made yet.
