this whole weekend has been a really bad look at the officiating of the nfl. the networks all have former refs in the both to tell us what the calls should be, and they are just as clueless as the guys on the field

officiating is a joke. like WWE bad, which is why you here more and more people talk about how the NFL is rigged. a holding call here or there, or a non call, or a bad call on an incompletion can completely change the outcome of a game. and everyone will just think its normal.

it won't surprise me if someday in the near future we find out that the outcome of games (who wins or losses) was all decided beforehand
This might be the reason for the call. He might not only have been waving but also whistling the ball dead.

They aren’t supposed to do that if there is any uncertainty over possession.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

    • So ref did not blow whistle but he signaled no catch. Someone should have picked it up though. Change the play completely.

Well, they just basically said the rulebook flat out calls it a no catch if nobody picks it up.....strange play all the way around.

          • [QUOTE=pbmax;1001013]They weren't even competitive for most of this game. Watching Watson run for key first downs as like watching the bad version of the Packer offense.

            (Quoted the wrong post)

            Matt Eberflus.

He's already interviewed with the Browns.

            He's the underground hot candidate.

            I hope we get him.

            I'm spamming for the guy.

              exactly

they need to be taught from an early age to swallow the whistle in that situation if blowing the whistle ends the play like it did today

when in doubt, DON't blow the whistle

                • You have thought too long about a play if you land on the smallest player running inside from the 2.5 yard line.

They also said it was because no recovery, but they just showed the replay again; ref stepped in the way and stretched his arms out. I'd say he actively prevented recovery of the ball, a player would've almost had to make contact with the official to get to it!

Yea, it seems like the overly complicated rulebook strikes again.

i heard on one of the radio talk shows a couple months back. they were talking about a group of refs in a room, and they showed them all the same play. 60% said it was a foul, 40% said no foul

when shit gets so complicated that a group of refs can't even agree on it, thats when you know things are beyond fucked

and honestly, they might not have even been talking about the nfl, i could have been listening the the soccer channel

but still, it shows how one person can see one thing as obvious, and another person can see the exact opposite
