  • Julius Peppers retiring.

Julius Peppers has announced his retirement.

Some very interesting comments from him:

I particularly liked this one, thanking Rodgers:

"Aaron Rodgers, just for being an all-time great player and teammate … and for making me believe that somehow, a Hail Mary can be a high-percentage throw," Peppers wrote. "I’ve never seen anybody do some of the things you can do, man. I’m glad I had a front seat for some of it."

    What an amazing athlete.

Has not missed a game the last 11 seasons.
Played 15 of 17 without missing a game.
Missed just 6 games in 17 seasons.
4 of the missed games were due to a suspension, so missed just 2 due to injury.

If Matthews or Perry had that kind of durability.....

I adjusted the stats for Perry down the road.

            What an amazing athlete.

Has not played 16 games the last 11 seasons.
Played 15 of 17 while missing over half the games.
Missed just 160 games in 17 seasons.
4 of the missed games were due to a suspension, so missed countless games due to injury.

Other than one considerable lapse of judgment when he decided to become a Bear, a great great player.

Now you are just being mean.

There was a story about how Peppers was walking toward a bus or plane as a player and a book fell out of his bag, it was by James Baldwin. He was very private apparently and apparently preferred that his public profile was that of a freak athlete.

So he asked the reported who was next to him: "Let's keep that out of the paper, OK?"
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

How was that a mistake? Peppers received 100 million bucks from the Bears.

I seem to recall a second mistake during the Seattle game.
