He's been effective when I have seen him do it. Not sure about full time.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Barr ranked first in total pressures for a LB (see people discussing, but not sure if that is an official stat). He is also one of the better coverage LBs, as well as run stopping. I think he will come cheaper and be more effective than Ford. Again, I dont expect Ford to be as motivated once he becomes very wealthy. Not certain, but his career track looks suspiciously like other FA busts.

I don't follow football closely enough any more to know much about Dee Ford. But with edge rushers being such a rare commodity, it's weird that KC would be so willing to trade him. I suppose, though, their got smoked for a bunch of points in their two biggest games (against LA and New England), so maybe they just want to tear the whole thing down.

But if the guy is better than Perry and Matthews and Fackrell, then giving up a second would really free up the Packers with those first two picks. But I hope they feel free anyway. Just get some talented players.

i dont see how a guy with just 3 sacks can somehow led all LBs in QB pressures

Probably. It would seem most EDGE rushers are out of the draft picture too, at least in the first round.

                    TE here we come.

I really don't think they'll be looking away from Edge. You're picking at 12. You have a chance to pick a player that could be special for the next 8-10 years. What are the odds both Smiths are on the team in three years? I'd say 50% at best for most team, 70% since this is the Packers (though it's too early to tell with Gooter).

If you can get Ed Oliver and you think he's special, you do it. If you think Hoch is Gronk 2.0, you do it. If you think Burns is a special athlete that you won't have a chance to grab again for the next few years if things go as planned, you grab him. I sort of view the FA Edge guys as a stopgap to plug a major hole, not necessarily the long term future there. My gut feeling is the pick will be either be one of those three or maybe an OT if one falls.

I agree they shouldn't look away from EDGE, but I bet they do. Unless the next all world EDGE just falls to them.

I think it's telling that neither Justin Houston or Dee Ford have been signed quickly.
