But the fact that you - and Guter - have to rationalize this pick is not a good sign.
Yeah, I know. And I am trying to help both myself and the board.

But I also know that I have been wrong countless times about players drafted (Clay Banks, Webster Slaughter, Willis Adams, Mike Wahle, Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews, Sherrod and trust me there are more) that I know despite collapsing the wave here and having the first round picked, its a 50/50 shot for each of these guys.

And I decided long ago that being pessimistic about my teams chances was no fun. Not that I don't ever get mad or rant, but I try to err on the side of optimism, especially if its not a game being played right in front of my eyes.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I was screaming from the roof top for them to trade up and grab sweat at the bottom of round 1. You can never have too many Edge dudes and Sweat falling that far is rare.

      • I don't get why you think we need to rationalize the pick. Gary went about where he was projected (not a reach) and he fits the scheme.

For me, Harv, it's because the guy is undoubtedly a great athlete but I don't think he's a great football player.

Forget the projection to the Pros, was he at all similar to MSU one trick pony Worthy?

            • I think he might be a better fit for Pettine than what they tried to do with him at Michigan. It's obvious what they want it of an OLB. Size to set edge, versatility rushing the passer. The three guys they brought are very similar. Gary is just much more athletic.

Although he was lower in some mock drafts, a lot of people had him in top 10 on their boards. http://draftanalyst.com/ had him #8. Daniel Jeremiah at NFL.com had him #10. GBNreport.com had him at #10.

"Love the pick, Pack nailed it"

rather than being talked into analytics, scheme, potential, etc.

In the common-draft era, dating back to 1967, no NFL team ever has started five offensive linemen in one game who were all first-round picks (drafted by any team), as the Falcons are now poised to do this season:

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
