Davis with nice route and shoestring catch. Think he was OOB though. Hiro Patrick with line call to save pass pro with safety coming up. OK fine, Light gave them a heads up.
A depressing number of flat passes.
Nice audible to left side run that Rodgers would never let happen. He never lets the packers run. Never, never, ever. Cole Madison with the ubuiquitous holding call when the ump can see you hands outside and the blocker drives the hapless defender to the ground. Poor defender. Should be a paid a bonus.
32 with terrible read on inside handoff. McCray with great down block drives his guy into next hole and leave entire middle open. TE gets the backer. 32 runs into the Tackle for a loss on left side. Grade: poor pad level
Vet move by Light gets offside call on 3rd and a kilometer.
Pankey whiffs on pass block. Tonyan, if on field, will torch zone defenses in the middle.
Hiro Patrick got blasted by nice punch by 73, still drove him five yards downfield. Pro Bowler. I think it was a wide play but 32 cuts inside the tackle on penetration by DE over Pankey. That put Tonyan's guy bak in play and wasted a heroic effort by Hiro Patrick.
Boot with play action is not working because the DE is given way too much time to get to the QB. They need to fake a toss not a hand off. Or Raiders know its coming.
Davis with nice fight for ball and TD while being interfered with by 23Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Difference between Datone Jones, Mike Neal and Mt. Adams? When QB sneaks through middle to avoid pass rush, Adams can close it off. Gary back into game. Lancaster (also back) collapsed pocket, Gary with best outside rush of night was free on QB left and that was nicely done.
Maybe Pettine is running the pretend to be injured to get TO New England scheme?
No pass rush that time. Gary had inside counter that was a beat too late. Flag on what? JT O'Sullivan in coverage. Nice to see him still in the game.
I think you can do something with Sommer in coverage. Not lost. He and Bolton also willing to fill on run.
JT O'Sullivan victimized on slant. Fackrell might have had Gary's job in dropping to middle zone for slant protection (or he just stopped pass rushing) but either way he did not get there.
Brown in slot good.
Gary'e best play of preseason game was read option, stayed wide in gap, forced hand off inside, then made tackle inside. Clay could learn from that. Crawford with nice gap fill helped.
Fackrell with almost as nice a play as he stays inside but recovers to get the QB on the keep with some help.
crawford with the only anti-tackle I have ever seen. first down.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Light burned and Madison late to help on first down pass. Flag on Madison but he was in a panic because Light got torched inside by 53.
Best inside run of night as Hiro Patrick with nice reach block AND seal with knockdown, Madison cleans up LB and Light holds the De off and FB gets the backer. Nice play, just like its drawn up.
QB got around the DE on a boot that time and completes going left to Davis. Nice effort and throw.
Hiro Patrick gets double help and catches ILB on nice wide run from Williams 22. Light with good seal block, his best run block of night. Madison collects two guys and knocks them into each other. Nother nice run play to the left. Patrick did not get a clean hit on LB, but he and McCrsy tangled on wham block in middle.
Nice toss sweep. Hiro Patrick doesn't get a clean reach but stays on it ben with hand to face. Madison has nothing to do as 53 runs out of the play. Light doesn't just enough. Pankey sealed OK on backside and McCray got nice shot on LB.
next inside run Patrick got ILB but he maybe did not help McCray enough on wham block as his guy was in hole. Madison got beat off the snap and so there was no room for Williams to get to second level. Which is a shame because TE and Patrick got the LBs covered. Would have been good gain.
Basically a tunnel screen against an overloaded front. Worked beautifully with nice catch by Davis on slightly off throw. McCray, Madison, and Pankey all made it downfield to block without getting called for being downfield because of quick throw. Nice.
I like Williams more than Carson.
Pass pro holding up. ESB should have had that throw.
Unfrozen caveman WR Kumerow TD. Cole Madison little late seeing a stunt but sees it, gets there and gives Boyle enough time to find wide open BK Lounge.
Packers have some inside OL talent. Light and Pankey a little shaky but overall were average. Light started out slow but was better late.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Gary, Adams and Fackrell almost all get there but its a short crosser that the DB Jamerson loses the tackle on.
I'd say Gary, Lancaster and Adams played that draw OK. looked like it was breaking open
Gary showing signs of life. Forces give to RB, chases him down inside. Crawford had him dead to rights and whiffed.
Concussion (butt)Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

@JimOwczarski
Curtis Bolton just came out of the locker room on crutches and with a knee brace for the #Packers
@TomSilverstein
Cole Madison is hurt.
@TomSilverstein
St. Brown has a left leg injury. He isn't able to put weight on it.
@TomSilverstein
Rodgers said they'll work on some Bears things in practice next week and then have a regular week of practice after the Chiefs game. Pretty much confirms he won't play vs. KC as expected.

Nah Family night was more realisticOriginally posted by Harlan Huckleby View PostI just started watching the CFL game. Holy sheiss. The third game is supposed to be real, this looks like Family Night at Lambeau."Aw, I have three kids and no money. Why can't I have no kids and three money?" - Homer Simpson

Well, I finally got to see the game - replay on NFL Network. A few thoughts:
It would sure seem like Boyle moved ahead of Kizer. The third string line that Kizer played with really stunk, though.
Trevor Davis was really something else, but Shepherd is a player also. I hope we can find a way to keep both. St. Brown didn't seem to do much but get hurt, but the Oakland commentators which I had to endure were bragging up the guy covering him - Nixon or whoever, so that might have had something to do with it. Has anybody heard today about his injury? Going on IR might just be a small blessing - for him not being cut, and for the team not losing him and keeping somebody who is doing better.
Tra Carson - who has hardly even been mentioned - seemed to outplay Dexter Williams, although Williams looked quicker.
There were by my count 6 O Linemen who didn't even play, at least I didn't see them - the starting 5 plus Jenkins. Of the rest, it was hard to tell. Somebody must have been doing the job in the first half, as Boyle didn't get rushed too badly, and there were a few holes for the RBs. I still haven't seen what the fuss is about for Light. Patrick made a few good plays and showed the ability to play Center. Pankey did some decent things playing Tackle in the first half, but if I saw it right, he played Guard and looked worse in the second half. Madison was rotten all the way, not just the penalties.
In the D Line, much as I'd like to think positive about M. Adams, he reminded me a lot of another guy with the same number - getting consistently pushed back and making his tackles 5-7 yards down field. Hell yeah, I mean Raji. Keke was ok - just ok. Looney looked good again - against the other team's scrubs again. Simon seemed more stout than M. Adams, but it was also against scrubs. I doubt he makes the team. Lancaster didn't look as bad as he did the first two games.
Anybody heard anything about Bolton's injury? He made a couple of plays early. Summers looked good most of the game. Sheldon - who looked like crap last week - seemed like he suddenly thought he had a chance to make the team, and looked good late in the game.
It didn't look like Gary's neck injury was too bad. I really didn't see any improvement in his game, though. Fackrell looked good. Did Reggie Gilbert even play? I didn't see him. I like the way #56 Ramsay plays; I hope they keep him on the practice squad at least.
Josh Jackson finally got to play and was decent. Hopefully against the slot receiver will make his lack of speed less of a problem. Just looking at the ESPN play by play, I thought Chandon Sullivan had a bad game, but when I actually saw it, he stood out as good in coverage - with one glaring exception - as well as doing good blitzing from the Corner spot. I'm not impressed with Redmond and Jamerson - missing tackles, etc. and even less with the guys farther down the list.What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

but the way everything was fucked up last night, that could have been a typo. i didn't notice him, because i wasn't looking for him, but they did announce him as a starter

high ankle sprain for st brown

Jenkins was not in the game. Which would seem to indicate he is a lock. Packers have some lineman. Patrick, Madison and even Light looked OK at times. Patrick is a mauler who can get overwhelmed by physically dominant DL, but he doesn't give up. Exactly the backup I want.Originally posted by red View Postjenkins was listed as starting the game at one of the guard spots

With the Winnipeg "NFL Experience" behind us now, and the Packers returning to play it's last preseason game at home vs Kansas City, I hope that we will see some serious 1st team (offense/defense/STs) game time before the regular season opener at Chicago. Practice is one thing, but it is not a substitute real competition. KC should play their #1s for at least a qtr, I hope that GB does the same.sigpic
