I've been skimming the thread and avoiding posting, but this I have to respond to. I thought that exact same thing a couple times during today's game. He was moving through traffic and it occurred to me he could do it.

    • Good idea, but I doubt it happens.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

      • The D is still bleeding yards at an alarming rate. Are the O's from the last 3 weeks that much better than the first few weeks?

        • Raiders and Cowboys OLs are among the best in the league. If offenses are scheming to neutralize the Smith Bros, Packers need to find more push from the interior to make up for it. Clark, for whatever reason, isn't providing that right now.

Only thing is the Z.Smith didn't get to show off his new sack dance today.
What you witnessed is a HOF QB embracing an offensive theory that has been successful since Walsh made a splash in SF. Run effectively. Short passes. When they try and take it away, long passes. Remember guys like Roger Craig having 1k rushing AND receiving while Also taking deeper shots with Freddie Soloman. Over the years the names changed, but the design keeps winning. Faulk and Bruce and Holt. Gurley Cooks and Cupp. Its not a secret (except to M3 and a few other bad coaches), but when you put Rodgers in charge of it....

Its weakest/strongest link theory. Bak looked like no one could beat him when our guards were getting beat so fast and bad. This season he is more human (still very good, but human). Clark looked like best pass rusher when no one else could get home, but smiths get there fast enough that clark is just providing support by not allowing QB to step up. He is still playing well, just can't get to QB.

This season is like a Science Fiction movie. One of us will soon turn into a weird goo.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I think there are still some personnel issues, but those last 3 O's had a full complement of tape and so they are game planning versus the exact D this year.

The first Pettine counter adjustment was more zone, which had lots of issues. We'll see where he goes from here.

I expect this D to be about the same as the 2014-2015 Capers D. With more experience, that zone will tighten and the defense will get better. But I expect them to be middle of the pack.

I'm not sure it's as simple as being made to look good by proximity to incompetence. Clark is also giving up a lot of ground on run plays. And yesterday in pass rush, the Smiths couldn't get any kind of push and still Clark was almost completely ineffective at collapsing the pocket. Something doesn't look right there.

                    • Two thoughts: Rodgers' most impressive stat to me was how balanced the receptions were. Nobody had just one, and nobody had 10 (forget the max). The ball was spread around consistently which is impressive without Adams.

Second, this D is giving up yards, but they tighten at the goal line. I'll take that for now.
No longer the member of any fan clubs. I'm tired of jinxing players out of the league and into obscurity.

The situational D is the best part of the D, with possible exception of pressure numbers that look to be up.

Goal line, short yardage and 3rd and long all look much better.

Dr. Zaius is beat up but they did everything but throw a kitchen sink at him yesterday. Cut blocks and double teams mostly (plus some chips).

Preston was having more luck with his bull rush but he wasn't getting to Carr before the ball came out.

Versus a quick pass attack, you need middle pressure. Without Clark healthy, it's missing. Lowry has come down from his early season crescendo.

Not to be a smart-ass, but the only thing the WCO and the Air Coryell have in common is they both are pass-first schemes. In other words, neither Walsh nor Martz ran your preferred blond, bland, obsolete conservative system.

                              Now WCO is pass first?

Has been since they went away from split backs.

Only legacies hanging on are Shanahans. I think Gruden would pass more if he liked his QB more.
