I think Seattle got hosed, the ball was short. But it hardly cost them the game. Packers might have made a foot on fourth down. Or if they punted, Seattle had to drive a long field and score a TD with about a minute. Not likely.

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

        • After re-watching the game, I am glad as hell we drafted Jenkins instead of Metcalf.

            • The key is Rodgers - and keeping him upright. And this year, opening holes for Jones is also important.
              Jenkins has been a godsend.

Atta boy, you are definitely forward thinking with that 80s music.
After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.

Completely agree. Total turnaround from Lane Taylor failing to recover his form.

He plus Veldheer and Patrick have made it a strength Not dominant at run blocking, but good enough. And quite good at pass blocking.

Football Outsiders has them 10th at pass blocking and they don’t track length of time the QB has the ball.

                  • Jenkins on his worst day is better than Lane Taylor on his best day. He has elevated the O Line from downright bad to mediocre.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

They are definitely better than mediocre. Football Outsiders had them 6th at run blocking too.

They have had high profile problems with pass blocking on the road at SD and San Fran facing outside speed. That will be their biggest challenge at Not Candlestick park.

                      • The real challenge with that outside speed advantage is how to make them pay. Typically you can run against that, but SF has such good tackles, they struggle on their inside runs. Turnstile just needs too much help and Linsley, while technically great and athletic, isn’t quite strong enough. Rams ran a lot of screens and quick passes to avoid the rush and escape the tackles.

One X factor is that Flower has been coaching up Sternberger in the offense especially as an interior blocker from both TE and back positions. He almost played half the offensive snaps in the Divisional game. That’s impressive seeing as he was only targeted once as a receiver. SF hasn’t seen him as a run blocker. He’s pretty good. That would really help. Also, he’s not bad chipping and blocking in pass pro.

                          Should also have Vitale back.

Might see a lot of 2 backs. Williams is very gifted getting open in small areas for Rodgers to throw the screen to him.

Williams is good at those screens. It's one way to slow down a pass rush

                            • They won’t be running many screens. The 49ers killed the Vikings screen game to Cook. He was a complete non-factor.

That's because Cousins throws short passes and screens about 90% of the time, and so San Francisco just sat on that shit.
