  • The Official Packers Seahawks Game Day Thread

What a perfect winter Wisconsin day for a football game. Members of the Green Bay community are already at Lambeau Field removing the snow from the stadium.

The Packers really have had a favorable schedule this year with a late bye in the season and another bye last week. The Packers have to be the healthiest they have been in the playoffs in 20+ years.

The Packers D needs to get pressure on Wilson and have a spy who doesn't let him run for yardage. The Packer O just needs to keep moving the sticks. I trust ARod to not turn the ball over which will be a huge advantage on a day like today.

The playoffs start today for the Packers and I see a very focused team that wins in all phases of the game.

    Packers win, 27-13.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

Good luck boys! I am at the game and wont be posting in this thread unless the wireless in Lambeau works a lot better than it usually does.

Packers score early and jump out to a lead. Things slow down, the defense is holding up. Offense picks up after half and scores again.

Just enough of a lead to make you celebrate then worry. Wilson gets two scores back by running around like Tarkenton. Offense has stalled. There are scowls.

Finally in a game that shouldn't be this close, Smith Bros tag team Wilson and somehow get that flotation device under water.

      Packers win 27 - 19

Great. Now I fear them running on the nickel. Because while everyone else on the planet knows Wilson is why their offense works, Pete doesn't let that stop him from running.

“I know the record here, but that means nothing at this point. … It’s clear that the guy that’s getting it all done for them is Wilson,” Pettine said at midweek as the Packers focused their game-planning efforts on Wilson, whose teams are 0-3 at Lambeau Field against the Packers but 4-0 against them — including the 2014 NFC Championship Game — at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field. “I just think each game has its own set of circumstances.

            Have fun, Dan!

Packers win in a close, frustrating game continuing the 2019 season refrain: a win is a win is a win.

Most up to date injury stuff I got:

The Packers listed four players as questionable on their injury report, most notably defensive tackle Kenny Clark (back). Clark practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday and is expected to play but his snaps could be limited. Also questionable: Clark’s backup, Tyler Lancaster (illness), fullback Danny Vitale (knee/illness) and No. 3 running back Dexter Williams (illness). … For the Seahawks, starting left tackle Duane Brown (knee) and backup left tackle George Fant (groin) are both questionable, and Carroll said they will be game-time decisions while starting left guard Mike Iupati (neck) is doubtful. While Jamarco Jones would get the start again at left guard, the Seahawks may have to start Chad Wheeler, promoted from the practice squad earlier in the week, at left tackle if Brown and Fant can’t play.

Let's put these in order, biggest development to smallest:

Still, there are reasons to think the Packers could raise their game in the playoffs. They have rushed for 100 or more yards in four of their past five games. During that time, the defense has allowed 14.2 points per game and held three of the five opponents under 100 yards rushing. On special teams, late addition Ty Ervin has added life to the return game.
                      1. Swervin' Ervin (sorry Captain)
                      2. Defense regaining its mojo
                      3. Running game

Things that could still tip toward Packers side.

Rodgers gives us a deep completion or two and/or a drive outside of the first quarter that is take what the defense offers. Don't care if its short or deep, take what is available. I honestly think this could still happen as they have made it work on some important drives in the second halves. But given its current talent/performance limitations, I don't expect it to be pretty.

Preston Smith makes his presence felt. I think he has been relegated a bit by the effort to unleash Dr. Zaius. I think PS either has to set an edge or drop into coverage when Gary or Fackrell fill in at OLB for the Doctor. Don't have a scheme explanation for this other than the increased multiple use of Za'Darius.

Sounds like the lingo a cheap therapist would recommended to repeat as a mantra.

Oates, see article linked just above, lists dropped passes as an issue. Its possible this is a problem at times, but drops are not a huge issue for this offense.

Packers rank 19th most drops. The variance isn't too steep here. If they had dropped just 2 more they would be tied for 9th.

Overthrown Balls and downright inaccuracy are the problem...couple that with thinking they have 7 seconds for a play to develop...uncalled for Sacks come into play.
