  • 2nd Half Defense Against Seattle

It was a zone. But man was it a loose zone.

Was it prevent? Just to keep tabs on Wilson?

Were they in zone that much in the first half?

    Discuss please.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

It sure seemed like prevent. Whatever it was if they try it Sunday that crazy white boy Kittle is gonna light the D up worse than last game. I say double cover the mfer all game. Send the pressure from the DL. If he is shutdown the entire Niners O will collapse and Jimmy G will make the mistakes needed to come out with the W.

Not sure what that was but I hope I never see it again. My guess is a zone with 2 objectives: Prevent big plays downfield to Metcalf and keep on eye on Wilson. Worked reasonably well on Metcalf. Made things pretty easy for Wilson.

Was definitely zone. Pettine had them playing zone so the db's could watch Wilson when he wanted to scramble. Hard to say if everything changed from first half to second.

The deep drops on Metcalf were specifically to stop his main route - the (sideline) fly or go route (9). I saw at least on two occasions, Wilson looked over there and had to bring it back down. It prevented the big shot to Metcalf. Slow bleed versus gash. Eventually, it 'worked' mostly because 2019 Packers don't have HaHa or Bostick.

Funny, Pettine said about mid-week that he wanted his defensive secondary to keep eyes on the receivers/tight ends/running backs and NOT peek into the backfield to see what Wilson was doing. I think they did that in the first half, but the second half was the zone - softer than a baby's butt and looser than my stool after a few White Castles.

Wilson put up 21 and 27 points against the vaunted 49ers defense who's cock everyone is sucking. But we give up 24 and the sky is falling and out DC is retarded

So, just to be clear . . . the 49er's defense shares a single cock? Is that like Rodgers sharing a brain with Davante Adams?

The first half it looked like zone with the Safetys deep and all, but in the second half, it may have been man based on the way Wilson was gashing us for the long QB runs.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

you would think so, but really it was a lot of zone. But I'm not sure what the defensive calls were on all his runs. He only had 7 - 2/16 in the first, and 5/48 in the third quarter anyway so it's not a huge issue. It's more than his runs, it's his overall movement.
