Cowboys take CeeDee Lamb.
CEEDEE LAMB
WR, Oklahoma
CONF Big 12 JERSEY #2 CLASS Junior HT 6'2" DOB -- WT 189 lbs
Route Tree - Have seen him break off slants and digs with suddenness but shows savvy stacking vertically to boot. Love his feet at the LOS, he'll produce false steps or jumpy corners when faced with press at the LOS. There's plenty of nuance to his initial stems and if you try to play him off, he's going to tear you up with underneath breaks.
Hands - Unbelievable catches off tipped balls, as a high point receiver and on throws testing the very ends of his catch radius. He's got terrific hands and the needed strength to squeeze the ball with his fingertips. Only a select handful of drops, which mostly came on low throws or passes with significant wobble.
Contested Catch - You think you've got him pinned and next thing you know he's plucking it off your forehead. Shows dynamic elevation skills and the savvy to win positioning when he's working vertically. Very skilled on back shoulder throws up the sideline or running fade routes to open himself away from contact.
RAC Ability - Folks. Don't get in this man's way with the football. Runs ANGRY! Embarrasses soft tackle challenges and shows excellent open field vision to break an angle across the grain and gallop into the open. Runs like a back pressing the LOS in traffic: explosive, heavy cuts before opening strides again.
Football IQ - Was tasked with a lot of different looks. Ran releases from the slot and won over the MOF and up the seam. Ran some jet motion into quick throws. Tasked with screen game and also with working a pretty full tree on the outside against corners in his face. Impressive resume in versatility.
Vertical Receiving - Does he have 4.3 speed? No. Do I care? Also no. There's plenty of juice when he opens strides in hip to hip to stack defenders and shows good combat with the inside hand to stave off in phase defenders and create separation to provide a clean reception as he tracks the ball. Paces his read of the ball well.
COD Skills - Body control comes in useful here. He's able to drop those hips and shift his momentum pretty easily for whip routes and 90 degree breaks. His feet are silky smooth, proficient in setting up defenders while staying balanced and not overextending himself at the line of scrimmage.
Speed - Plenty of burst when you get him in the open field. His initial explosion isn't great and some defenders have crashed into his legs from behind after the catch as he gears up for a charge down the field. Will have no problems threatening vertically in the NFL or consistently breaking off big gains after the catch.
Competitive Toughness - Will straight bully smaller corners and those with sloppy technique. Love the effort he provides in supplemental areas, including stalk blocking. Will probably need to adjust a bit as college offense built in some plays where he didn't need to press off the snap if ball was run opposite his alignment.
Blocking Skills - Effort here is really, really nice. He'll snap inside and consciously turn hips out to create seal. Heavy and violent hands to punch and win initial spacing and there's no shortage of reps where he's sliding and mirroring his feet to sustain the block and provide clearance into the second level.

Player Summary - CeeDee Lamb projects as an alpha WR in the NFL. No, he doesn't have elite top end speed, but Lamb checks damn near every other possible box. He's smooth with his feet, possesses elite body control, vacuum hands and is a dynamic, angry runner after the catch. Experienced in manufactured touches, boundary and slot work, Lamb should step into an offense and be comfortable filling any possible role than a coach could give him. A top-shelf WR prospect and impact starter early on.I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen
