Ugh! Like Dillon, I liked Deguara more than most. He was the consensus 13th best TE by the boards I looked at. I had him 8th, and I may have had him higher if I didn't want to look like a fool. My scouting with these guys was pretty good. However, Dillon felt like third round value and we took him in the second. Deguara felt like fourth round value and we took him in the third. The draft is getting worse by the pick. Dillon might have been early, but he and Moss were my next up. I like Deguara enough, but not ahead of Trautman and Harrison Bryant.

This feels like a disaster of a draft, and the only thing to save it is Jordan Love becoming a Pro Bowl caliber QB.

Forget about draft position and think about building an offense. Kittle was drafted in the fifth, but the dude plays like a monster. That’s what I want from one TE position in this offense. Same with the running back. Thrilled to have him. I was frustrated that they were throwing Jones into the fray on obvious running downs and he isn’t that kind of back. It mostly wastes his talents and might wear him down. Now they have a brutal steamroller. Should be a good fit. Probably need to get one of Tex’s ‘road graders’ in there at RT to make it complete.

Honestly, I think Gutey got outsmarted in this draft. My guess is he had his eye on Brandon Aiyuk in round 1, but the 49ers outmanuevered him.

PB floated this theory in another thread. It’s an interesting theory, but they’d have to be totally in the dark that SF was moving ahead of them to get the same guy. Maybe Flower and Shanahan were chatting too much in the off-season?

I have to say, I can’t recall a team getting out maneuvered like this. Anyone else?

Its possible they just did not like the price of moving up. Cost them a 4th to prevent teams coming back into the first to get a fifth year contract option on the only QB left with a possible first round grade.

Packers not likely to trade with Minny. Question is, who was San Fran trying to get in front of? Packers were still at 30. Miami, Baltimore were not likely to take a WR. Maybe Dolphins but they already took CD Lamb.

Someone else might have leaked that they were trying to move up I guess.

It was pretty dam obvious GB wanted a top tier WR and SF took the steps necessary to do what Gutebag failed it....if you think he wanted Aiyak, list most do
