  • Endeavor To Draft Trevor Thread

The battle to get the 1st pick in the NFL Draft to take Trevor Lawrence has been engaged. The top contenders as of now:

    1. New York Jets 0-3 Current quarterback: Sam Darnold

    2. Atlanta Falcons 0-3 Current quarterback: Matt Ryan

    3. New York Giants 0-3 Current quarterback: Daniel Jones

    4. Minnesota Vikings 0-3 Current quarterback: Kurt Cousins

    5. Denver Broncos 0-3 Current quarterback: Drew Lock (Injured)

    6. Houston Texans 0-3 Current quarterback: Deshaun Watson

    7. Philly Eagles 0-2-1 Current quarterback: Carson Wentz

    8. Cincy Bengals 0-2-1 Current quarterback: Joe Burrow

Houston and Cincy are the 2 teams that I would say would not take him. All others are possibilities.

Yeah I think that's a reasonable take. If he truly is the next Peyton Manning, then you've gotta take him even if you picked Darnold at 3, Jones at 7 or whatever, etc. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Are you kidding, Joe? Denver and maybe Philly would be the most likely to want or need him, maybe Atlanta if they let him sit for a couple of years, and none of those teams are likely to end up with the very worst record. The worst teams are pretty well locked into expensive or young highly touted QBs.

As for Lawrence, CMI, he's most likely to be the next Joe Burrow - a very good prospect but not an immediate world beater or even an absolute sure thing long term.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

I listed the teams in the order that the draft would be as of right now.

Some people think he's the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck. If teams like Giants and Jets think he's that good, I think they would take him over what they have now.

Burrow is the next Peyton. Lawrence is unique. More mobile than most his size. He is closer to Rodgers than Manning.

If I were GM of any of those teams except Cincinatti I would draft him. If Cincy gets the pick dish it for a haul.

Best comps. ARod, Cam Newton, Luck. But like I said. Unique. Not as deadly a passer as ARod or Luck, not as mobile as Cam. He will be similar to Cam without the trucking of Dbacks I would think. No goal line carries as he is not as durable as Cam, but neither was cam for a 2 year stint.

Bobblehead, those two posts seem contradictory. The first says Lawrence is the greatest thing since sliced bread; The second says he is pretty ordinary.

I think if almost any of those teams get the #1 pick, they will do their best to trade for that haul.

Sam Darnold injured. Jets now clear favorite.

I kinda hope the Jets get him. It's awesome seeing there hopes dashed against the rocks year after year. But for Lawrence's sake I hope they don't.

My nightmare scenario is the Vikings trade up or just manage to go 2-14 and pick him, and he goes on to torment the NFCN for 15 years in purple.
Actually, if this happened for the Bears or even the Lions it would also be a nightmare scenario, but those seem less likely (DET likes Stafford, and CHI is 3-1 with a good defense).

To me, the Jets or the Jags make the most sense.

My son is a giants fan. I watch all of the giants games on game pass. I like Daniel Jones a lot. I'd love to see the Giants get the number one pick and then move down one or two spots and pick up two 1s and two 2s for the #1 pick.

If the giants can get another DT and an edge over the next two years, theyd have an extremely talent laden defense to dominate the NFCW with

After making a failed attempt at being a gambler the last two seasons, I watched a lot of football. People here who talk about receivers are kind of laughable to me.

I see maybe 10 good DTs in the whole league and probably 70 good WRs.

The Giants landed a good DT in Dexter Lawrence last year. If he works at his craft he could be in the up and coming group of 10. I'd love to see them somehow luck into one more. They'd be the one team in the league who could consistently menace the QB from the inside. Well, maybe two teams if Aaron Donald keeps up his level of play.

As for the Packers, we have Clark, in the top 5 and keke developing into one of the top 20 (servicable bigs.) The rest of the NFL is a bunch of Lowrys and Lancasters.

If I was a GM for a bad team, outside of finding a HOF QB, the next biggest prayer would be to somehow have two of the 10 good DTs in the league on my team.
