  • Colts week discussion. Horrible matchup

They have an elite or maybe THE elite OL. They're going to be able to push us around and run, pretty much, at will. Filthy Phil can deal the rock. Let's hope everyone is healthy because I don't see our defense slowing them down unless health gives is a new edge we haven't seen to date.

On defense they're tough up the middle. They have a nice fatty coming into his own at NT and an elite 3t in buckner. Our inside zone might struggle with this team. With the running game sputtering, might see a bunch of 2nd and 9 or 3rd and 7 looks. Not a good recipe for winning football.

But, the outside zone does seem to be...... I wouldn't quite say taking off, but it looks like it might be, becoming servicable.

I don't like this matchup at all. Their biggest strength on offense faces off against our weakness. The biggest strength of their defense matches up to stop our sort of one dimensional running attack. Should be a loss. But this is the NFL. If vegas wants us to win, we win.

Of Course you don’t like this matchup. It’s the typical situation where our little “Front Runner Operation” gets exposed once again and everyone comes back down to reality “Once Again”. They have massive power upfront on defense and can neutralize our run game. They will make someone other then Adams beat them. It’s the typical game where MVS disappears!!! People will say Rodgers is pouting and is off. We won’t be able to stop the run as we haven’t been able to for 10 years!!!!! Same old Shit.

It’s just who we are. “Fraudulent Front Runners” because we have a stubborn jackass GM.

Wish we had the Bucks front office!!

You want to stop the run?

Might want to start with stop drafting all these “Nice Guys” from Northwestern and Vanderbilt and Stanford and the Pac 12 to fortify your front seven. I think it’s thoroughly proven it’s a recipe to get your face kicked in at the NFL level!!!!

Packers D played well enough to win the game vs. JAX, but that was a low bar. They beat Indy if they can run the ball and get Rivers to turn the ball over. I don't see that happening.
Will be a good test for them after a mostly lifeless outing...plus they are indoors, so no wind. Agree this is a bad matchup for GB.

This game is going to tell a lot about whether we can beat physical teams in the post season. Top 5 defense, top 1 or 2 offensive line. Can the Packers best a country brawler? We’ll find out in 5 days.

            Reasons for optimism:
Great defenses are sometimes lead by absolutely dominant front 7s. And sometimes they're lead by veteran defensive backs who can mask coverages and confuse opposing quarterbacks into making mistakes. The Packers are a mix. Clark, Z, Gary, P and now Kirksey are a solid start to the front. We have a deep stable of servicable backups to keep the front rested. But we also have an experienced back end. Kirksey, Alexander, King, Amos and Savage can all play a variety of coverages. So can Sullivan and Greene. Barnes can fill in nicely vs offenses who like to lean run heavy, but he's a little green yet to be an every-down guy.

Getting healthy, it will be interesting if the Packers can mix and mask their defenses effectively enough to give the front guys a chance to make more plays. Also, with Clark being back to 100 and Gary looking healthy again too, it will be interesting to see if the front can take strides to take pressure off the back end.

Due to steady injuries we really haven't gotten to see our defenses best. There is a chance we have everyone back Sunday and a chance the best is yet to come.

Even upon loss, there is a chance the defense can still grow over the last 7 games and be better for the post season.

But this is a big game. A solid victory gives a lot of hope for a 14th title in title town.

Biggest test and biggest game of the season right now. The Colts are good.

Colts offense has been mediocre this year. They might improve a little against a soft run defense, but they have not been executing well, they lost their top RB and Taylor has yet to really get his feet on the ground, and Rivers is at best a good game manager who doesn't seem to go off on hot streaks the way he used to. I think the Pack loses this one, but it will be competitive and I don't see them getting run over completely. More likely, Rodgers and co. will struggle to move the ball consistently and they go down 24-21 or something like that.

If we get a healthy Alexander and Sullivan we get another pick. If we get back a healthy Lazard and ervin we can open up the playbook.
                  That is how we win.
If we don't get those players back we are likely going to lose. We need the spread passing game for jones to be great. I think rivers can be taken advantage of with our secondary I'd Clark gary and smith^2 CAN GET some pressure

You wish we would give a max contract to Middleton and let Brogden walk? Then get knocked out before the conference finals every year? Wow, thats a hot take even for you.

It is progress though, that 6 months later you agree with me that WR isn't the problem, the defense is...specifically run defense.

We are now the out of conference on the road team. If we manage to win this game, we are definitely Owl material. This is a game even really damn good teams lose. Pitt almost lost to Dallas. Its a very tough situation where you would not expect a win. If I peg one game all year where I expect to lose, this would be it.

For sure. But it’s exciting because of how hard it is. Winning would be a huge indicator of potential SB success this year.

Worst type of matchup too. Quick trigger filthy Phil and a dominant run blocking line. Pass rushers neutralized. And great defense too. Brutal matchup for this team. Winning would be huge.

The Colts beat some teams they weren't expected to beat. I don't believe they are as good as their record indicates. On the other hand, they have played the Packers tough in the past - mostly McCarthy teams, though, I think.

Rodgers will have a big game against the Colts, and our running game will be decent too. Can our D be decent enough? Not to completely shut down Indy, but we should be able to outscore them by a good margin.

                              Packers 45 Colts 21
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?
