King is not as bad as some on here think. But neither is Josh Jackson, and he and Hollman have capably replaced King.I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

King was playing against Brees, Matt Ryan, Cousins and stafford.Originally posted by Joemailman View PostKing is not as bad as some on here think. But neither is Josh Jackson, and he and Hollman have capably replaced King.
Jackson had a rough go against Brady, cousins and Watson. He looked better against the last two rookiesFormerly known as JustinHarrell.

I don't want to say Williams is a J.A.G but we can replace what he gives us every year with a draft pick if we choose. Perhaps with a cost effective FA as welllTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

I agree. Just about every team has a J. Williams. As usual RG overvalues anyone that has a “G” on his helmet.Originally posted by Bretsky View PostI don't want to say Williams is a J.A.G but we can replace what he gives us every year with a draft pick if we choose. I didn’t see a scenario where cutting Preston would make sense after this year before the season started. But boy, it’s becoming likelier by the week. Gary has been our best pass rusher the last couple weeks and Preston has had an awful season.
Cut Preston, Wagner and Kirksey and Jones is an easy fit. I wonder what kind of deal he’d take. 10M/ season maybe? Might as well do it now and take the axe out when the season is over to make that space.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.

Let them all Fucken go. Jones, Lindsley and King. Bye Bye Preston too!!Originally posted by RashanGary View PostI’d sign Jones tonight if it was me. King and Lindsley obviously would have to go. And we’d have to take the axe to a bunch of aging and so/so performing players. But the season has shown enough new information to make a solid decision right now imo.
This offense needs to be revamped a bit differently. Need more physicality in run game. Dillon is more the style of back LaFluer desires. You used a second round pick on him so he needs to play. You can’t just Fucken draft dudes with top picks and not play them. Doesn’t work that way when you hardly do anything else to build the roster. The $ can be used elsewhere. Like another perimeter weapon!!!

For sure man. You saw that a mile away when I didn't. I might have seen the Lindsley thing a touch quicker. But who knows, Jones coulda got Eddie lacy fat and Preston could have come in looking line zeus and Linsley could have somehow upped his play and the whole thing coulda been different.Originally posted by texaspackerbacker View Post+1 to that, RG.
I've soured on the importance of Linsley, and I've said all along, King isn't worth any big money.
I did not envision Preston making the Jones contract so possible with his bad play and seemingly easy cut. I loved Gary’s brute strength combined with his length coming out. But after him not really putting it together last year, I worried about that. Both; the Preston decline and the Gary improvement make cutting Preston and keeping Jones a lot more advantageous to the whole.
This situation definitely makes me realize that waiting a little bit before making long term decisions is wise. New information definitely makes long term decision making more effective.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.

You know what else is crazy.... Last year if we were to rank the free agent signings in order of best to worst, it would have probably been; Z, P, Amos and then Tunstile. This year, although Z has stayed up there in performance, his salary is becoming a cinder block with the up coming Covid free agent frenzy.
In hindsight, the best move would have been to sign Amos, Turner and Fackrell for cheap. That way we would be going into the free agent sweepstakes with tons of money and probably be the favorites to win a SB over the next couple years.
We kind of traded away a true front runner championship caliber team for two years of playoff relevance. Nobody could have saw this coming though so I don’t hold Gute accountable. Had the cap not gone down for 3-4 years, Preston would be the only probable mistake.Formerly known as JustinHarrell.
