Matt LaFleur says Rashan Gary was "battling through a little something" in the second half, hence why he was off the field.

Not sure if this is just MLF not wanting to talk about an injury (which is common), or if he's being evasive about something else.

Just about everybody played at just about the level you'd expect them to play at. Thus, Rodgers, Adams, most of the O Line, Jaire, Tonyan, Lazard, Jones, and Williams were the studs we have come to expect, but really nothing more than that.

On the unusual side, I don't think I've ever called Lowry a stud hahahaha, and basically, he only had two or three studdish plays today along with a lot of mediocre ones and getting pushed around. Gary also was hot and cold - more pressure on the QB each week it seems like. Clark had a good but not necessarily great game. Amos and Savage both made plays but also seemed to be out of position in the zone D a few times. I like the way Vernon Scott played in limited reps.

On the Dud side, nobody was clearly horrible that I can think of, but the D was let's say lackluster as a unit, and special teams was pretty bad, as we've gotten to expect.

Kirksey was bad again - as expected. Kevin King wasn't as bad as I maybe expected, but he had a lot more bad plays than good ones. Sullivan messed up a few times. Zadarius didn't do much, and Preston did even less.

It wasn't a great game, but the Lions probably played over their heads, and beating them at their place is not nothing. A win is a win is a win.

I watched the Vikings game. I watched the Bears last year. Whatever we pay Crosby is a bargain.

Overall agree with Tex, a win is a win, and against a division foe they are even better. Clinching the NFCN and a playoff spot is sweet.

MVS had a good game. Today he was Jekyll, hopefully he won't turn back to Hyde. His TD catch was a thing of beauty, and he caught all his targets and did well with them after the catch. He also did fine work as usual with run blocking.

The Smiths didn't do a lot, and the sequence where it looked like the defense had never seen a screen before was maddening. I imagine they go into every game with a target painted on them by the OL, so there's that, but Stafford isn't a scrambler. Gary played up and down -- he gives good effort. Lowry played decent, and Clark gave the IOL some problems.
Not sure it's a good sign when your safeties are leading tacklers in the box score. I'm not a huge fan of the Pettine scheme. Kirksey didn't play great, none of the LBs did really. The Lions didn't have much success running, so kudos there. The way Stafford was slinging the ball in the first half they didn't need to, though. Too many 3rd and longs were converted with throws to Jones, Amandola and Hockenson.
Watching the Bills/Steelers game and seeing those pass defenses is like night and day from GB.

Major kudos to Mason for nailing a 58 yarder...that's no small feat, and it gave them a 2 score lead with under 4 minutes to go. Also for showing JK how to tackle, even if that KO return was brutal and gave the Lions life.

Loved the play call to Tonyan on that last 3rd and 5, although I knew it was probably coming and so should any decent defense, which DET's isn't.

Pretty amazing to think this team could go deep into the playoffs and fire its DC and STC.

Yeah, Dan Bailey cost the Vikings 10 points today (although in fairness, at least one of those FGA was from 50+ yards outdoors, which is no gimme).
I understand the complaints about paying a good kicker, but when you think of all the XP and FG in a game and how they add up, having a good K matters.

It's doubtful the wind was against Crosby on the FG, so he shoulda been able to kick it into the endzone - and eliminate the big return and need for his nice tackle. Oh yeah, I forgot, it's a dome hahaha.

I'm on record saying Crosby is overpaid - even though he has been very reliable for a long time. It just isn't that difficult to find a big leg kicker coming out of college or off the scrap heap - 25 or 30 college kickers graduating every year, there almost certainly are a few good ones. Mike Nugent, age 38, got picked up by the Cardinals when there regular got hurt, and he had a nice game. Next year, money/cap space is gonna be tight. I wouldn't be surprised or upset if Crosby is one of the cap casualties.

Tex, you are having a rough year here. This is all wrong, Yes there are dozens of strong legged kids coming out of college, But finding one who can produce is MUCH harder than you describe in this post. The Bears tried to do what you post here. They cut Robbie Gould prior to the 2016 season.
To save a few pennies on his high (for a kicker) salary. They had one of the NFL's premier booters and figured they would get by with a strong legged replacement. But they have failed miserably in their search. Since cutting Gould, they have tried 19 kickers. This group has been the worst kickers in the league. (one of the guys the Bears tried was Mike Nugent, mentioned in your post)

The top 3 are Justin Tucker, Gould, And Mace. When you have a team that plays outdoors in a cold clime, you need a strong kickers with experience. Crosby is signed for 2 more years after this one. It would hit our cap for this year and the next if we would even dream of letting him go. What you advocate ain't even gonna happen. 2022 would be the next time we have to evaluate his status.

Goes to what has always been my concern with him. Recognition and reaction. I.E. football instinct. He is great when asked to rush the passer. He is stout when asked to defend the run. He does not transition well and Detroit took advantage of that by running screens in passing situations when he was pinning back the ears.
