He’s worse than others think. The Bears didn’t bother to pick up his 5th year option. They’ve been looking for a QB since Sid Lucknan, and they are ready to move on. He will look great on one throw and be 4 yards short on a wide open WR the next. QBs are born with accuracy. He doesn’t have it.

Bootlegs, strong running game, short-to-intermediate throws. Things that lend to quick and easy reads -- if he has to go through his progressions he has trouble. Also will lock on to a specific target at times too.

This is exactly the Bears offense, and he goes from okay to bad depending on the week. He is what he is.

I'm a huge Rodgers fan tex, probably close to you in appreciation for his grind and skill. However, I turn 40 in two months and know age will catch him sooner than later.

Gute learned from the Wolf tree of QB finding (Favre, Hasselbeck, Rodgers, Wilson, Mahommes, Mayfield, etc...) There is a better chance of that hitting than you give credit. Could be back to back to back HOFers if the Wolf tree pulls through yet again.

hahahaha If you want to bring personal age and experience into it, I'm here to tell you, athletic ability goes on way past 40. In the case of Rodgers, as I have said, the current rules - like them or not - greatly extend the age a QB can play too. There were a few lemons that grew on that Wolf tree of QB finding also. But if Love is anything short of Mahomes, he will never be like Rodgers, and that's a pretty safe bet.

Respectfully disagree tex. Whether he develops is very relevant to the Packers' future. If he doesn't, they will have to find a QB elsewhere eventually. It also means they gave up two picks for nothing, and when they are early round picks that can hurt a team. Rodgers is having a season for the ages and has run the MLF offense like a maestro this year...they absolutely should keep him. If he takes a hard shot from Khalil Mack, I want there to be a better backup than Brett Hundley, and the hope is that Jordan Love eventually develops into a starting caliber QB. If he does, and Rodgers sticks around, he's trade bait. Teams will give up a LOT for a QB...and I think we agree that he's relevant in that way.

My preferred scenario is that Rodgers sticks around and kicks ass, Jordan Love progresses into an average-ish level starting QB, and Gute trades JL in a couple years for picks which turn into Rodgers eventual successor...and the next elite GB QB.

When I say irrelevant, I mean it is extremely unlikely Love would hang around Green Bay as a bench warmer for enough years that Rodgers is gone - assuming Gutekunst, etc. don't get extremely stupid and let Rodgers go while he still has most of the excellence he has now.

I agree completely with your preferred scenario - 7 or 8 years down the road, maybe.
