  • Is Aaron Rodgers really a genius?

My 78 year old Father this week said, “We have a genius for a quarterback.”

As the week progressed I couldn’t believe he said that cuz it’s such high praise coming from him!

Genius maybe, but football savant is probably more accurate.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Fortunately, he's generally wise enough to keep his mouth shut about most things other than football. I guess, like some of us here, he doesn't want to get kicked out of forums hahahaha.

He has distilled all of the defensive schemes and sets to their basics, and has marshaled the troops the best anybody can do.
Yes, he is a genius working with the chemicals he has been afforded.

He is smart enough to implement the offensive scheme LaFleur has devised. Remember how "stale" the O looked under the last years of M 3? The most impressive quality he shows is his absolute hatred to throw a pick. Hope he gets to the show at least 1 more time before his run in GB is over.

He’s a dbag. But he appears to have photographic memory along with enhanced event perception and depth perception. How else can we explain the video game feeling watching him because he is so consistent and accurate on every play. He always know where everyone is supposed to be. I wish he wouldn’t act the way he does towards teammates at times when they screw up but I do believe he doesn’t really ever fuck up when it comes to running the offense.

This new offense was probably nothing for him to learn compared to the WCO because he is mastering the hell out of it and making LaFleur the goldenboy of Lambeau. We are probably watching the best year of his career IMO. Hats off to Rodgers because he caught excellence while chasing perfection this season. It has been exciting to watch.

Genius can be expressed in many ways. Math, science, art/music and likely physical.

Often high iq gets mistaken for ‘smart’. IQ is just the size of the funnel - how quick can you pick up something new?

In listening to him speak - I wouldn’t be shocked if he scored 120+ on IQ. But really, that’s not very hard and often doesn’t translate to the real world.

If he’s a football genius - he’d be developing the new offense rather that just activating it. Physical genius no doubt.

He's played a lot of football, has a huge arm and throws great on the move. A really rare player who had a top 5 all time statistical season with less than stellar supporting cast. Genius, I dunno, but great QB, for damn sure.

To a great extent, your first sentence describes a lot of QBs - Matt Stafford, maybe Matt Ryan, maybe Rivers, probably a lot of others past and present. The main things that set Rodgers apart are: the mindset/attitude/carefulness to avoid interceptions and the ability to read defenses and react to what he sees. The latter probably could be called genius - in terms of football at least.

Is best arm for arm strength? You already have most accurate. Stafford doesn’t have the best arm (Mahomes or Rodgers) or arm strength (Josh Allen easily)
