I ain’t watch that slavery known as college football anymore (pay the players!), but Google says that the last 3 games Leonhard’s D went against THE Ohio State U, it allowed 34, 34, 38 points, all in defeats.

I understand that the flagship Wisconsin university ain’t as Wu-Tang (good) as THE OSU, as the former is full of suburban Caucasiods who neither need nor love the game (Chris Boreland comes to mind), and latter is full of urban Negroids who must excel in the rye to escape the ghettos. But based on the scores, Leonhard reeks of Pettine, he whose D chokes in big games.

In other words, Leonhard ain’t nothing but a carbon copy of Pettine. The Frog should bring Al Harris back to cold, dark and dull Green Bay.

I saw a podcast on YouTube about these guys, and Chris Kiffin from the Browns seemed to stand out. He is supposedly a pass rush specialist with a record of improving that in a couple of teams.

I hope they go with a young, up n coming assistant coach and not a retread. Evero, Leonard or Nielson would be my current preference.

Leave Leonard be at UW Madison
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Bring Leonard in! He's leaving UW, it's just a matter of when. Keep that man in state.

Maybe I'm just naive and have too much faith in the notion of "home" but I think he might stay and be the eventual successor to Christ. Unless he is A) extremely competitive and wants to keep climbing and be the best, or B) really wants more money, I don't see a lot of upside. He did shoot down Alabama and several of the big schools that could pay him more, for example. Personally, I think he is a made man at UW and would be extremely unlikely to lose that job in the next ten years. I think there is a 50/50 chance he succeeds or flames out in GB. Why would you blow your dream, cozy job at "home" over a crapshoot. I wouldn't do it personally. There is very little in life that more money can get him, so I don't really see the appeal there.

I went into a deep rabbit hole the other day and found his wife's blog that was contributed to as recently as 2014. My biased interpretation of her words and stories painted a picture of somebody that I think valuables stability and comfort. Of course, I am reading into it a whole lot.

Wow, CMI, this is scary. I was just about to write that about Leonhard, but then I saw you beat me to it.

Leonhard would be a great successor to Chryst. Successor to Christ? That's a pretty high bar hahahaha.

Seriously, my best guess is that he takes the Chryst route - goes to some other job, then when Chryst retires, they bring him back as the Badgers head coach. Whether that transition phase is a NFL DC or a college head coaching job, it's hard to say.

As for his prospects as Packer DC, on the one hand, he appears to be highly intelligent and has done a great job every he has been. On the negative side, it has been said he would just be a continuation of Pettine's scheme. Back on the positive side, he has seemingly made much better use of his LBs, both OLBs and ILBs with the Badgers than Pettine ever did. Of course, that was college.

If he's destined to be the HC at UW, going to the Packers as DC isn't going to end that destiny. In fact, it might be a boon for UW because then they can hype to recruits that Leonhard has NFL connections and can best help get prospects to the NFL.

You haven't had enough of the old names you know....Jim Bates, Dom Capers, Mike Pettine? I want Rex Ryan if we are going that route. Phillips has a good history but is 74 years old. I want Leonard...I wanted him last time and fat mike FUCKED us.

Agreed. I will add one more thing. Pettine is on record saying that when Leonard was a safety for him in the NFL he basically ran the defense. He knows the system the packer players have some time in now and he knows how to get the best out of it. He is our guy. If they hire anyone else its insane.

Edit: Hell, maybe he can talk TJ into entering free agency and coming home!!

It makes me wonder if they have their eye on some assistants coaching in the Super Bowl. They don’t seem to be in any real hurry and can start those interviews come Monday.

I certainly wasn't saying I WANTED one of the oldies. I specifically said a while back I do NOT want Phillips. I just said that it looks from the interviews that they aren't considering older types - only relatively young. I would be glad to have Leonhard as Packer DC too.

What I've said, though, is that the what is more important than the who. I want more pass rush/more and better blitz packages. I'd also like to see more zone pass D.

Good point. The buccaneers defense was hard to score on. Wouldn’t doubt if we nab one of them.
