Rodgers, Lawrence could be teammates again
Former Clemson receiver Amari Rodgers 'Zoom'-ing up NFL draft charts
      SCOTT KEEPFER | GREENVILLE NEWS | 8:00 am EDT April 28, 2021

Amari Rodgers says he’s done “30-plus Zoom interviews,” which pretty much covers the entire NFL.

On Friday, he’ll hear from only one, and that’s just fine with him.

“I’ve been real busy with the interviews – used Zoom more than I ever have in my life, getting to know teams and them getting to know you,” Rodgers said. “But it’s slowing down now, which I’m thankful for.”

Rodgers is expected to be drafted Friday, when the second and third rounds of the NFL Draft unfold at 7 p.m. A year ago, such an expectation would have seemed a longshot.

But Rodgers may have done more to improve his NFL draft stock than any player in the country during the past year, transforming his professional future into a sure thing.

Overshadowed by talented wide receivers his first three seasons at Clemson, Rodgers broke out in his senior campaign, emerging as the favorite target for quarterback Trevor Lawrence and leading the Tigers in receptions (77), receiving yards (1,020) and touchdown receptions (7).

He capped that effort by wowing scouts and other NFL personnel with an eye-opening week of practice at the Senior Bowl, then grabbing a team-high four catches, including one for a touchdown, in the game. Rodgers also flashed his versatility with an 11-yard punt return.

Plenty of draft analysts left impressed.

“Great slot receiver and had a great Senior Bowl week,” ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. said. “He has got a chance to be one of the first five, six, seven or eight picks in the second round, so when Day 2 kicks off, Amari Rodgers I think hears his name called very early.”

Daniel Jeremiah, an analyst for the NFL Network, also left the Senior Bowl favoring Rodgers.

“I loved his crisp route running,” Jeremiah said. “He has strong hands and a solid overall feel for the game. Rodgers reminds me of Randall Cobb. The Houston Texans wide receiver has had a long, successful run in the league, and Rodgers has similar potential.”

They have enough guys it seems like to get them through till Bakh is back. And once he’s back they have a decent 6th man. And maybe more depending on Stepaniak and Hansen.

I kind of agree; would love to see a ILB

And then in round five take some of those OT"s on my list ....lol

        • Damn. Bad enough we took a WR and traded up to do it, but we got one who combines smallness with slowness. Supposedly he's a kick returner, but I doubt he's fast enough for kick offs - punts maybe.

Anyway, 2 picks out of 3 that I liked.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

          • I’m kind of OK with the OL. If there’s a position you can get a starter from day one, it’s a second round center. That should be a shoe in long term starter where he was drafted. So we have just enough to get through till Bakh is back.

The receiver has a lot of talent for a 3rd rounder. Smart, natural, quick. Should fit in well with Rodgers and the passing attack.

Our day 2, we have two really good bets to be solid players.

Short, not small. 212 pounds on 5-9 frame. Not fast, but quick in and out of breaks. Packers will still have an A. Rodgers on the roster!

                                2) I didn’t think he looked very good last year.
                                3) I didn’t think he fit our scheme—although I’ll defer to the FO on that.
                                4) If you were going to take an OC, I thought Humphrey was better.
                                5) You can find OCs later. Linsley was a 5th round pick.
                                6) I thought there were better players at other positions (Dyami Brown, Jabril Cox, Andre Cisco, Nixon) who fit our scheme.

I would have preferred Gute trade up and take an OT. Most of the guys who fit our scheme are now gone. Maybe he tried.
Some valid points. But Packers don't miss often when drafting IOL. I like this pick and the Packers draft this year.
