    4. Josh Myers, Ohio State (6-foot-5, 310, no 40, Round 3 or 4): Played mostly guard in high school (in Miamisburg, Ohio) and in his first two seasons for the Buckeyes before starting all 21 games at center in 2019 and ’20.

“He will be a starter,” one scout said. “The center position is smart, tough, reliable, and he’s all of those things. He’s a solid player across the board. No flash to him, but he’ll be a reliable player.”

Underwent turf toe surgery in January.

“He gets knocked back every once in a while, but all in all, he’s a good prospect,” said another scout. “Loves the game of football. Good with his snaps. He’s got size. He’s a technician. He knows how to turn guys.”

    Has short arms (32 inches).

“Very limited,” a third scout said. “Slow. Not flexible at all. Top heavy. Limited-type backup.”

^ I'm not sure I'm seeing what that third scout was seeing.

It’s unusual to take a center with a 2nd round pick. You have to be really high on a center to take him there. He has to be a good bet as high as he was taken. The Packers scout loved him.

It appears that the Packers think they discovered something with Jenkins - that you can train a guy to play anywhere in the O Line. Myers would seem to be another of that kind, maybe Newman, the 4th round pick also might be. I'd be fine with three Jenkins-class warships in the fleet.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Could be. Helps them plan for the injuries that always happen.

In an interview with NFL Network this past weekend, the Green Bay Packers quarterback was asked by former teammate James Jones on who has stood out in camp thus far.

“I gotta say Josh Myers, the center,” Rodgers replied. “For a guy to come in, as a draft pick, as a rookie, and be that comfortable – it’s pretty impressive.”

Myers, who was selected 62nd overall by the Packers in the second round of April’s draft, has been getting all of the first-team reps at center during the first few days of training camp.

“He’s very comfortable with the system, comfortable in his own skin,” Rodgers continued. “And he’s a big fella. He’s probably the biggest center I’ve had in front of me.”

“I like the way he’s stepped in and controlled the huddle and the calls the first four days.”

Incidentally Gutes caught heat for not drafting the top "consensus" center on the board. He drafted the scheme fit instead. Right now, with no pads, he is looking pretty smart.

Does ANYBODY doubt that Myers has now been jinxed and will have a knee in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... pop!

                    Good job, mailman.

I don't think he'll have a knee, but there's no doubt now he'll be cut.

Landon Dickerson was the first center off the board to the Eagles. Though he isn't starting, they have Jason Kelce, so this isn't exactly an indictment of Dickerson. He was on the NFI list for a chunk of the preseason, so he may need more time to come up to speed.

Chiefs drafted Creed Humphrey one pick after we took Meyers. Reports have been pretty glowing from KC. He's easily their starter. His PFF preseason grade was 73.7 overall, for whatever that's worth.

Broncos drafted Quinn Meinerz, one round after Meyers. He's not starting this season.

Do you want a center named "Creed," or a center named "Josh"? I think the Packers made a mistake here.

But then again, "Corey" doesn't sound too macho, but Linsley worked out pretty well.

At some point in the season, Myers will probably get his ass handed to him by some nasty old vet Dline. But I've been super impressed with him. He had some troubles vs Houston. They were playing a bunch of vets, vying for a job. Myers had some issues doing zone lead blocks to his left. He got pretty tangle footed and had trouble with a couple zone blocks to that side. The next game, he made his adjustments and executed his assignments perfectly. The kid is aggressive and is learning. He has improved every game. He needs to keep that learning curve high. He already has a very solid gun snap and gets to the second level as good as Linsley. Looks like a total keeper.

Let's get that old Packer spirit when we used to play the Bucs in their old wimpy Sombrero Dome or whatever it was. JVille needs to be Lambeau South, filled with drunken Packer fans babbling and screaming loudly. Nothing revvs up a team like and uncalled for homefield advantage

It's that heat and humidity and the memory of Packer defenders cramping up and gasping for breath back when they'd had to play TB twice a year that worries me.
