  • Your 2021 Saskatchewan Roughriders

Are off to a bad start...

    Sigh.

At least we will have games this year

Paxton Lynch (former Broncos qb I think) is 3rd on the rider depth chart. How is his arm and legs? Scrambling I feel is way more important in a qb up here than the NFL.

Scouting report from when he was drafted:

      Strengths

Very tall, athletic body with ability to scan over the top
Elite foot quickness for a tall quarterback
Can maneuver quickly out of a busy pocket and away from trouble, but desires to keep passing option alive
Sets up in the pocket quickly and generally keeps feet "throw ready"
More functional scrambler than "tuck and run" quarterback
Sacked just 15 times over 477 drop backs
Able to win with his feet when he needs to
Has a quick release to overcome his slight wind*-up
Has enough arm to drive the ball into restricted windows
Has enough arm to attack downfield while on the move
      Makes good decisions
Rarely takes the cheese when cornerbacks try and bait him
Displays qualities of a field leader and isn't easy to rattle
Yards per attempt have exploded over his last two years
Can gain chunk yards as zone-read quarterback and will appeal to boot*-action teams
Will be challenging to defend in the red area
Took better care of the football cutting turnovers down from 16 last season to just four this year
Completed 54.6 percent on intermediate throws (11*20) and 44.9 percent on deep balls (21-plus yards) including 19 touchdowns and just two interceptions

      Weaknesses
Needs to improve ball placement for catch*-and*-run throws
Inability to throw with desired accuracy on the move forced him to leave yards and plays on the field
Must learn to better anticipate routes and stay ahead in the rep
Doesn't quite have the quickness through progressions that he will need in the pros
Has to learn to move defenders around with his eyes to open throwing lanes
At times, crowds targets against the sideline
Needs to stop babying play-*action passes and cut them loose
Consistency of arm strength has been overstated
Inconsistent weight transfer in delivery forces him to muscle some throws
Perimeter throws lack velocity and will nose*dive on him
His ball comes out with wobble and isn’t always the most catchable
Touch throws over inside linebackers needs work
      I can't run no more
      With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
      Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
      A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

Inthe CFL wrs are allowed motion prior to snap which gives a lot of speed to our game.
If his weakness are still present he is done up here, backup at best.

I think he cant actually. I believe the NFL contract means unless GB gives him permission he can't play in the CFL. He would be amazing I think.

              First game is August 6th.
Here is a small primer if you care to read it about the changes to the team.
Losing labatt is huge imo. Tax would disagree because he is only on the ol.

Paxton lynch is our #2 qb. He looked ok and somewhat efficient under centre and has a decent arm. Full roster release at 8pm tonight. I will try to post it.

Opened up strong but then let the game go till it was tense at the end. It was 28 - 0 for us before the lions scored. Should not have been a game in the second half but.
Winnipeg beat Hamilton at home 19-6
Toronto beat Calgary 23-20 (remember to think of Calgary as viking north)
Ottawa beat Edmonton 16-12 in a comeback win.
And our 33-29 win puts us in 1st place in the West.
                  Current west division standings
                  1) Your Saskatchewan Roughriders!!!! (Defeated a division opponent)
                  2) Winnipeg blueboomers (beat an out of division opponent so 2nd)
                  3)Calgary stampeders
                  4) Edmonton elks (name change from eskimos)
                  5) BC Lions

Riders win!!!! 30-8 over hamilton ticats!.
Slow start that changed with a 17 point 2nd quarter. D gave up some yards but clamped down when it mattered, in what we call the green zone. The 30 yards before the end zone. 2 ints and a bunch of sacks.
Winnipeg also won so they are at 2-0 as well.

More great news, Calgary lost! So they are at 0-2! As did Edmonton. Bc lions won so they are 1-1.

I completely forgot to update you guys about wk 3. Sorry, harvest can be busy time.

Anyway riders walk away with a win 23-10 over the Ottawa redblacks to be the only undefeated team left in the league. Now a way to early bye week so they will be #1 till wk 5.

We in Saskatchewan have started planning the grey cup parade route and no that is not too premature thank you.

Oh and our qb Cory fajardo is playing like arod from last year. 78.9 completion % 4 to 1 td to int ration. 1.1% int percentage.

Oy 8.1 ypa which isn't high for CFL but our o is so dam efficent we are playing with a lead and dont have to push down field.

Dude, thanks for the bump. We won in double ot!!!!!
Made a field goal attempt but their was a flag on the play. A few years ago we had a extra man on the field penalty in the grey cup and lost.
So seeing that flag was a knife to the heart. Thank god it was against Calgary!!!! Riders earn the privledge to compete against Winnipeg for the western division final!
As an aside my kids wrote on a Kleenex box go riders go and gave it to a cool teacher who happens to be a stamps fan.
