  • OFFICIAL 2022 PLAYOFF GAME DAY THREAD SAN FRANCISCO versus GREEN BAY

After an offseason where we argued about who our starting QB would be, and an extended regular season full of COVID challenges, we are Finally Ready for Playoff Football in Green Bay. The Time is Here

And in the end, we have one goal, and we have earned the right to make the NFC come thought out home field

It's time to see if the Student (Matty) can defeat the teacher (Shannahan)

And it's time to see if we can kill the playoff curse of AROD versus the 49ers.

In 2012 we lost 45-31 and Colin had 181 rushing yards with 2 rushing TD's and 262 passing yards with @TD's. 579 become famous

In 2013 in 5 Degree Green Bay Colin scorched us again with 98 rushing yards and 225 passing yards in their 23-20 win.

And in 2019 we allowed Rasheem Mostert to run all over us with 220 yards and 4 TD's in a 37-20 loss

And that doesn't even include our previous curses from the football gods when we play these DAM 49ers

SO WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TOMORROW and HOW WILL IT END ?

Expect San Francisco to try to use their superior OL to run it down our throat. We'll see a heavy dose of Elijah Mitchell, who has 5 one hundred yard games in the 11 games he played this year. And we'll also see a heavy does of one of the most talented players in the NFL in DEEBO SAMUEL. In the past 10 games, Samuel has 415 rushing yards and 9 TD's. If you plug those numbers into the number of carried Jonathan Taylor had, that would translate into 2100 rushing yards and 41 TD's. I know, not fair. BUT HOLY SHIT PLAYMAKER !!! And going up against the 27th rushing defense in YPC in the NFL, this is a challenge for Green Bay. When Jimmy G does pass, he actually leads the NFL in yards per attempt with 12.8, and much of that has to do with the San Francisco 49ers leading the NFL in YAC, or Yards After Catch.

When Green Bay Plays offense, expect them to attempt to establish the rushing game with only sporadic success. San Francisco had one of the better rushing defenses in the NFL in yards per carry, and they are very strong up front. Expect AROD to try to give them a heavy dose of Devante Adams. In the earlier game this year, he targeted Adams 18 times for 12 catches. Green Bay would also be smart to mix in some quick hitters along with some running back receptions (AJO) since San Francisco is one of the better pass rushing teams in the NFL.

Scary Shit when you consider how they manhandled Dallas last week led by Nick Bosa, who on the season has 16 sacks, 21 Tackles for Loss, and a 35% pressure rate when teams passed on San Francisco. Last week, San Fran had a 44% pressure rate on passes by Dallas, and had 5 sacks. And they rarely blitz because their DL is so good.

So whose going to actually win this game ? I've seen poster after poster predict packer wins this week. It's time to Freeze all the dam kool aide in here.

In game day weather like this, the Game is Won in the Trenches. San Fran, led by the Teacher, is going to use Mitchell effectively in the power running game, and he'll mix in some Jet Sweeps and outside attacks by Deebo as well. AROD will have some success this game, but he's going to miss some opportunities as well because Nick Bosa is going to be chasing him all over the place.

San Francisco is Built for a game like this. Hearts will be broken, but honestly after watching two Hall of Fame Quarterbacks make the playoffs year after year after year but rarely win the Big Show, we should be use to this.

    San Francisco 27
    Green Bay 24

    Take it to the Bank.

This is going to be Red after the game

And we're going to have a Lot of This; confusion, frustration, tears and suprise

Oh-oh... isn't it bad luck to have a typo in the thread title???

Some good analyses, but the accuracy of your prediction depends on the Niners being a dominant enough team to dictate the way Green Bay plays their game - and I don't believe they are. I think Green Bay is the superior team, and I think Year 3 of the Matt LaFleur era is the year he overcomes his last major hurdle and establishes himself as a legitimate posteason coach.

I believe Vegas is pretty close to dead on with this one. They're calling us 6 point favorites with an over/under of 47.5, and I think we are about a touchdown better - Green Bay with about a 7-10 point victory, right in the range of 27-20.

Pretty much spot on analysis by Bretsky. We will know who will win the game by the end of the 1st quarter, because if the Niners have one long 8-10 minute drive in that quarter, it is time to go a Rodgers watch.

The Packers did not start well last year against Tampa Bay. I don't recall the last time they did, in a playoff game.

So I think it's important to set the tone. On defense, for sure, but on offense, too. It sucks the winds out of your sails if your defense stops the opponent on their first drive but your offense sputters out the gate.

Home field gives us the edge. But we lost to Minnesota and New Orleans. This game is no gimme.

I’m convinced a SB win has to do with a lucky run. Let’s hope luck is in our favor today.

This all comes down to one thing...a fast start. The Packers have been abysmal at that for most of the season. We can't be abysmal today and win. The Packers need to get a lead and take SF out of their game. The offense needs to go up tempo at times to keep the SF defense off balance. MLF has had two full weeks to prepare for this game. There better be wrinkles and surprises in the game plan, because we will need them at times.

Still, I think it all comes down to the first 8 minutes of the game. If we come out fast, put the pressure on the Niners offense, and play aggressively, I don't think the Niners can stick with us. If we don't look like a number one seed after 8 minutes, this will be a slugfest that may prove difficult to win.
It's such a GOOD feeling...13 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

Just run the offense, be methodical and patient. Big play opportunities will present. Just don't try and force them. The only way they lose is special teams blunders or turnovers.
