  • Green Bay is not winning any offseason championships here.

First The Flower refuses to interview Jim Leonhard, and makes a bit of a head-scratching hire in Gannon.

Then Risch Bisaccia suddenly exits the scene, and The Flower gets leftovers to choose from for his special teams coach.

Then the NLFPA rankings come out, and it doesn't look good for LeFleur, the OC, and the training staff.

No first round pick in the upcoming draft.

It hasn't been a rosy offseason so far.

Just means it's time for another couple Barney Fuckdoggle's to appear from the draft.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

      • And despite all that, the team is strong and barring another horrible rash of injuries should be one of the best in the league.

Getting rid of Bisaccia is a good thing - IMO and probably most people's.

Not interviewing Leonhard is regrettable from a Badger point of view, but Gannon seems to be a solid choice, maybe more solid than Jimmy woulda been (sorry bretsky).

No first round pick? That's because of the Parsons thing, of course, which I'd certainly say is more good than bad.

The NFLPA? What do they know. Most of those ratings seemed like crap to me.

RIchie, while I don't mind him leaving, certainly isn't a great look for GB when it appears he chose to leave and then went to Clemson

Richie Gannon, we will agree to disagree but you are the infinite kool aider. Not interviewing Leonard at all, just shows what a fruitcase pssy the Flower is. No need to apolgize Tex. I wish your kool aide was right more often; then we'd have more than 2 Championships over the past 30 ish years
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Isn't it 2 over the last "60-ish" years?

It’s been a while! It’s kind of a badge of honor, I think.

But let me get this straight: after your highly acclaimed ST coach walks out, presumably in part because the Packers wouldn’t commit roster spots to many ST guys (because GB really really needs six wide receivers on the roster), the team now resigns ST aces Nick Nieman AND Kristin Welch AND signs an actual factual returner? What the hell is going on in Green Bay this offseason?!?

Remember, there is a possibility, however remote, that Gute was being honest when he said they were surprised by Rich leaving. This could have been the plan all along.

Gute isn't Ted on special teams, at least not during RichB's tenure. He's had 2-3 bodies who were ST first rather than developmental guys and the coverages did improve. I think the returner was an acknowledgement that the particular flavor of the Packers draft and develop philosophy doesn't get you a ton of small, quick twitch returner types. Closest recent example was Randall Cobb who was a good punt returner but soon graduated out of that job.

A part of my confusion stems from LeFleur’s roster construction. He seems to think he needs a legion of wide receivers. Injuries, I know, but you’re holding roster spots for raw athletes who can’t contribute for at least the first year, and they either don’t play ST because that’s not the body type?) or they’re part time returners. Then you get one or two good years out of them maybe and they’re gone (Doubs).

                        • If you've got 7 or 8 high quality WRs, you definitely should keep 6, maybe 7, and all 8 including the PS. The worse waste of roster space is keeping too many O Linemen. Unlike O Linemen, WRsd generally do contribute on special teams.

                          • OLinemen get injured, (3 starters missed games last year) and you need 5 on every offensive play. You don't want to get caught sort on the OL.

                            • Did three get hurt in the same game? No, right? So no more than 8 ought to be sufficient, maybe even 7. As for injuries, I'd say WRs are at least as likely to be injured as O Linemen. Undoubtedly, at least one D Lineman has some history in the O Line and ought to be cross-trained for an emergency.

Field goals would be interesting without O lineman.
