Are you basing this on his work on the stationary bike?

Smart and really good feet. I'm not sure about his overall size/length at T but I think he can put on a little bit of weight and gain more strength a la Bahktiari (who was 299 as a rookie) then he can hold up. Will never be a road grader but I think he'll be one of those guys who is always in the right place and can mirror so well he frustrates his opponent.
We run ZBS so road grader isn't exactly on the menu. But if it were I wouldn't underestimate a guy who understands leverage the way Tom does.

He showed pretty good vertical after Doubs scored a spectacular TD.

Agree. GB doesn't really do road-graders, to the dismay of some on this forum. I think Tom fits their scheme very well and looks to be a super sub if not a future starter. Interesting that he's battling the N-men (Njiman & Newman) currently for T reps. If Jenkins AND Bahk are on PUP to start (I think Bahk plays Week 1 but Jenkins stays on the PUP) he might be a starter.

Sean Rhyan is having a rougher/slower start. Seems like they are playing him at G exclusively at this point; I suspect they keep him there this season and try him at T next season, like they're doing with Newman and have done with others in the past. He looks like a G but has athleticism to play T. He reminds me of a better version of Lane Taylor, which isn't terrible.

Yeah I was a little surprised by this. I don't see a protective sleeve or obvious scar on the knee, so I'd expect him to be practicing soon.
He'll have to get up to speed in a hurry, when the regular season starts there isn't a lot of time for practice and development... it's all prepping for the next opponent.

            • With the camp excitement around Doubs and Tom, I wonder if Gutes is rethinking trading away all those 4ths he tossed out there to move up in the first round. I'm still more excited about this draft than any prior. I am anxiously awaiting the puff pieces on Wyatt and the rest.

I was always surprised he would trade those picks given the success Wolf and Thompson had with mid round picks. I believe he traded away a 4th to move up in the 3rd round to take Oren Burks.

I don't think the Pack had a rookie WR starter since Greg Jennings.

James Jones started 9 games in 2007, including Week 1. Jennings started 11 games in 2006.

IIRC he was starting for the most recent Packerrats game, which IIRC was in 2007 against the Bears. He fumbled after a hot start.

                        • Was at practice today. Just a few things to mention:

Doubs looks very natural to me fielding punts.

Only heard 1 f-bomb from Bisaccia so ST must have been okay.

I think Watkins looked very good. Don't know if he can stay healthy, but at this point his string of injuries does not seem to have robbed him of his speed.

Tyler Davis looks to me a lot like 2020 Tonyan.

Danny Davis looks good. Great chance to make PS.

The Doubs/Stokes matchup is a great one to watch.

Love had an INT/fumble when an o-lineman got pushed into him and hit his arm as he was throwing. I think Love has improved a lot, but he still needs to work on getting rid of the ball quicker.

Zach Tom got 1st team reps at RT again today. He might start there if Bakh and Jenkins are both out to start the season. Gary made him look bad today, but Gary has been wrecking everybody.

I really like Tyler Goodson. Quick cuts and can catch the ball.

                            wow

Crazy; don't think of Cobb when I hear top 10
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

He had a weird, consistently average career for a really long time.

My couple takeaways. I pimped Goodson as an absolute steal for undrafted. I think Hill might be replaced without ever getting back on the field (and I loved Hill in the 7th last year)

It seems my initial thought that Tom, as good as he is, wasn't big enough to be a starting tackle year one is off. If I have to be wrong, that is the right direction to be wrong in.
