Winfree looking very ordinary. If he makes it, it will be because of ST. But he did get caught inside on long TD return by Chiefs.

I was thinking the same thing. Doesn’t get separation. Ordinary.

Toure reminds me a little of Driver, as an athlete. Similar build, decent speed.

I hope Watson is a player. I feel good about Doubs. Toure is a maybe. I don’t like much else after that.

Packers need to practice tackling in their ST drills.

Tom with a 40 yard penalty tonight. Not a game of outcomes, a game of processes, but that is a nasty outcome.

Etling ends up being 6/6 for 83 yards. Pretty good throwing to JAGs in mop-up time. Toure kinda seems like he wouldn't make it through waivers, to me.

Taylor with some nice moves, but not much speed.

Etling has an NFL arm. It's why he's here and not Benkert.

One of the more disappointing aspects to our probable intial 53 is using two spots on Watkins and Cobb. They are below average with no upside. But I am not sure anyone is worth keeping after our big two developmental guys. The receiver position is not great.

They could keep between 5 and 7 but probably only 3 are really desirable roster spots.

7 receivers seems crazy to me. Lazard, Doubs and Watson are the only three you want on your roster. Maybe Cobb and Watkins are necessities because you need assignment sure players playing on Sunday.

After that, is practice squad talent any worse than whatever is left??

Keeping 7 of these misfits seems criminal to me.

Keeping 7 WRs IMO is obvious. Cobb on his worst day is better than Amari. We haven't even seen Watkins. How can you be so negative about him. Supposedly reports about him in practice are good.

Watson, Doubs, Lazard, Watkins, Cobb, Toure, and Winfree for the 7th over Amari.

I need to watch the game tomorrow morning. I went to a high school game tonight instead - family friend's kid playing.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Amari had a good game. Winfree looked ordinary at best. Toure had a great night.

I'm not sure how much Aaron Rodgers's opinion matters on such decisions these days, but I would think, from an organizational point of view, that that final wide receiver spot - the seventh, I think it would be - ought to go to Toure and not Winfree. At this point, Winfree is what he is - a marginal NFL player. Good teammate probably, hard worker, most likely, but I think he's hitting the ceiling, or is close. You cut him, and you want him back if he's eligible for PS (I don't know if he is), you have a good chance of having that. But if you cut Toure, a seventh round pick with some upside, you stand a good chance of losing him to a team like the Loins or the Bares - teams that can afford to keep him on the roster and develop him.

Plus, I understand Toure is full-in on special teams - he's bought into it and has done it. So he has that value, too - that's not something Winfree has on him.

So if they keep seven, I'd say Toure should be that last guy.

I agree. And everybody is eligible for the practice squad. You can have as many as 6 players on PS who are eligible no matter how much they've played in the NFL.

Well, I finished watching the game.

One thing that stood out was the punter, O'Donnell really kicking the crap out of the ball. Unfortunately, coverage wasn't very good. I'm tempted to give the ST coach the benefit of the doubt because some many players in there will probably be gone by the regular season, but still, other teams don't seem to have a problem due to that.

Both RBs looked good. Taylor looked a lot better than last week. The O Line didn't do them any favors - poor blocking way more often than not. And this was mostly O Linemen that will be making the team in there not opening holes against the Chiefs, not just the first series against the Chiefs #1 D but pretty much the whole game.

I suppose those who still have hope for Jordan Love saw some good from him, but I honestly didn't see much. And kick me in the ass for saying so, but Etling looked better than Love. Yeah, I know he was playing against lower level D, but he just seemed to have more zip and accuracy on his throws than Love.

I see some people are down on Winfree. He didn't look like anything special, but I still thought he looked better than Amari.

On D, both Heflin and Slayton kicked it up a notch and had good games. Is it possible we keep both? Ford didn't look good, but they say he has potential. Quay Walker looked good in the small amount he played. Engabare did some good things both against the run and pass rushing, but I saw him mess up at least once in pass coverage. Among the DBs, it seemed like Gafford got beat just about every time. Abernathy after looking so good last week, seemed lost in pass coverage a couple of times.

It's stupid to talk about cutting Watson, but I am wondering why he didn't play. Maybe because he needs practice with Rodgers, not Love.
